4TH2020

Dear OzBargainers,

Mike here from MEE audio again, sharing our 4th of July (USA Independence day) "MEE What?" Random Earphone Grab Bag Promotion.

For those who have never participated in one before, the "MEE What?" is a way for us to hit some of our lowest-ever pricing on a themed selection of products, and hopefully to add a little fun and anticipation to the shopping process. We typically run this type of promotion twice a year (second time being around Black Friday).

The promotion page can be found here - use coupon code 4TH2020.

How it works: for US $19.99 (approx. AUD $29) + postage, you will receive one of our entire range of Bluetooth wireless earphones selected at random in accordance with the listed odds:

  • X5 2nd Gen In-Ear Sports Headphones: 20%
  • X6 1st Gen In-Ear Sports Headphones: 20%
  • X7 In-Ear Sports Headphones: 10%
  • X8 Advanced Sports In-Ear Headphones with aptX: 40%
  • X10 Truly Wireless In-Ear Sports Headphones: 10%

Normally these run anywhere from $34.99 (X5) to $79.99 (X10).

Shipping: Shipping to Australia is ~AUD $23 for a single "MEE What?" and around ~AUD $38 for two. For orders of two or more, it's best to use FedEx as the shipping cost difference is negligible, but delivery is much, much faster. Shipping cost increases very little past 2 units as well.

As always, I will gladly answer any questions as best I can in the comments below. I can also be contacted by private message or by email at mike(at)s2einc(dot)com

Thanks for reading!

Anyone who participated last year can comment?

This is weird, slightly suspicious and totally intriguing. If the price were lower I'd enter the draw, but $53 AUD is a bit rich for my blood for a lottery.

Thanks for bringing us a fresh idea and still decent offers though OP!

Anyone remember Zazz? They used to do similar things with lucky dip deals

My M6 Pros still going strong after 5-6 years but one side drops out intermittently now. Looking to upgrade, are the M6 Pros still an option or is there something similar in build and price?

    • +2

+1 to how good these are, mine still going strong.

    • +1

The M6P are awesome, but the A151 and A161 were something else

    • We still make the M6 PROs, they're on their 2nd generation now but identical in most ways to the original ones.

There's also 2-, 3-, and 4-driver versions now, if you were looking for more performance or a different sound signature: https://pro.meeaudio.com/products/in-ear-monitors/mx-pro.htm…

That said, if you're happy with your M6 PROs you can probably figure out whether it's the earpiece or the cable causing an issue on yours (by swapping the cable between the left and the right earpieces - if the problem changes sides, then it's the cable). We still have most of the parts for the original M6 PROs available, so this would be the most cost-effective solution. The replacement cables are even available from Amazon.com.au.

Is it completely random, in the sense that, if you ordered two, there is the chance that you could receive two of the same? Or is the second item necessarily going to be different to the first?

    • +1

There is chance of getting the same ones but it's quite low, in this case around 15% chance of getting 2x of the X8 if you buy two units. Next highest chance is getting 2x of the X5 or X6, but that's a much lower chance at 4% each. Very unlikely to happen.

Thanks for answering and doing the maths (er, math ;)

  • Tried these a few times but found them to fall apart after a period of time. Dont consider myself rough on them and they were stored in the little case that comes with them. Been using the Dudios for last couple of years and they are still working fine. Guess the mileage you get from them varies.

    • Sorry to hear that you've had problems with one of our earphones!

Just in case they are relatively recent purchases, there is an international warranty, and we don't ask you to mail them in if you are overseas so it's a relatively painless process.

  • Hey Mike, if I buy two does one postage charge cover it, or do I need to pay a postage charge per item?

    • The postage is weight-based so it does increase as you add more items, but not in a linear way (1st unit is always the most expensive). I only tested with Sydney zip code (it may differ slightly depending on destination) but I got approximately:

      • AUD $23 for 1x
      • AUD $38 for 2x
      • AUD $41 for 3x
      • AUD $46 for 5x

Would have bitten if it was free shipping.

I've only had good experiences so far with MEE (products have lasted well).

Can vouch for MEE and for Mike personally, he always helps out!

  • Had some of these ages ago(m9p?) . Was great for the price then but it's now way too expensive(comparing to for eg xiaomi pro hybrid).

    Weird gimmick of a deal.

They're inventing a $50 item (not incl shipping) for a chance at a $35 - $80 item, and then making a 'coupon' for it.

Sure. Roll the dice if that's your thing.
I think most people would simply prefer to know what they're getting for a decent price.

    • It’s not a new concept. Aussie companies have done it before - Zazz and I think Catch used to do this before too.

  • Its been long time since I heard some these guys. MEElectronics used to be regular on ozbargain before. I have actually participated in this promotion in 2014. Dont remember what I actually received. But I do remember my A151p balanced armature earphone. It was good and used it for quite some time.I think I still got it somewhere.

    • Thanks, we are still kicking!

Biggest change since 2014 (besides the whole cataclysmic 2020 thing) is postage to AU increasing 70% :(

  • I had a lot of love for the wired Mee stuff, great sound and well made for the price. Haven't tried the wireless.
