Affordable Coffee Grinder and Cold brew ratios

Hey Guys,

Hope everyone is doing well!

I recently jumped onto the Aeropress bandwagon and was wondering if anyone can give me a few pointers :)

  1. Whats a good and affordable Coffee Grinder?
  2. Whats the best cold brew coffee ratio using a jug?
  3. Where can i buy the best coffee beans?

Currently i'm using Industry Beans - The fitzroy beans. Its okay, but i would like something stronger.

In regards to cold brew - i use 47grams to 500mls of water and brew for 24 hours in the fridge.

Thanks so much for your help,

Stay safe x

i got a manual mini porlex grinder, for $40 a year ago

    • how is the grinder? recommend, buy again?

      • It’s fine. Easy to clean, compact. I too use an Aeropress, and it’s fine for that (I use inverted method)

    • Thanks for the reply, will look into this :)

I use a Rhinowares small grinder, handy and pretty cheap. About $50ish.

    • Thanks for the reply, will look into this :)

  • Aldi Single Origin ($13 for 1kg) and Breville Smart Grinder Pro ($150-200).

    • thats so cheap!!! Industry beans is $16 per 250grams.

I'm curious to know if you've tried other beans?

      Thanks x

Mate just experiment and have fun. Your ratio 1:10 looks about right atm. You could play with 2 variables - time immersed in water and temperature of water. So you could filter out the grind after say, 8 hours or something. Or you could use fridge cold water vs tap cold/lukewarm.

    • Yeh i was hoping for a shortcut LOL

The barista told me to try brewing it on my counter top opposed to fridge.

Lets hope it will be stronger LOL

      • Shortcut would be to use warmer water, but not hot. I imagine the more you move towards hot the more acidic it will be.

  • Kmart grinder $14 (in Cairns, two months ago)

    • Thanks so much for the reply!
