Oh ok. Converse sounds casual?
No uniform. Don't deal with public at all. Management encourages comfort clothing. Jeans and a t-shirt is dressing up. A/C always at 22 degrees.
Cool thanks.
Same here, work in marketing. Chuck Taylors and Vans are the go to.
Usually something like this for office work when on sale and they last me 1-3 years. Generally I go for anything <$100.
Thanks. It currently is on sale too. Looks good.
If you are going Myer, Woolies is having a +10% value on gift cards coming up
Oliver AT, ~$150, every 2-3 years.
Tough boots. Nice.
I work in a factory and work pays for my boots so now it just wear $20 pumas from Costco for travelling to and from work. I find them very comfortable. In previous jobs where I had to buy my own boots, I'd spend up to 200 for steel blue high cut boots with a zip on the side. Should last 2 years, changing the inserts when needed.
Nice! It's great when the pay for your boots.
Office job with suit. I buy these: https://www.loakeshoes.com.au/products/loakemcqueendis?varia…
Cost me about 250$ each then.
I have two pairs bought 10 years ago and still going strong, looked after they can go for a long time. Their shoes are expensive but over their lifetime it works out far cheaper than Chinese made glued crap.
Looks nice. Yea I am after something that lasts. Thanks for the share!
Rockports. Used to buy from Amazon US. Last pair was from Athletes Foot for $250, luck as i got a size too big and they swapped them for a small size after 2 weeks. Last for years.
Just checked it out. Thanks for the share!
Rockport Eureka $124 on amazon US delivered.
Grosby shoes $39. Should last 1-3 years even if worn every day, depending how much walking you do in them.

Nice man. Wonder what the comfort is like on this.
Crocodile Dundee used to wear them in the 1980s. https://youtu.be/6zpDPPSYEdw
They used to market themselves as "great". Great shoe, great price, Grosby.
But I wore them at school for years and they were probably my most comfortable school shoes ever. Not sure if the current ones are exactly the same.
I think they are actually on par with some 8 year old Julius Marlow shoes I am using currently, but which I only started wearing regularly in the last year.
Actually Julius Marlow pop up in a fair few deals posted here. I bought from this deal exactly in 2012 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/85422.
RM Williams - Can't beat them $390-$600 depending on sale.
Mine have been going for 2-3 years and I expect them to last many to come
Thanks that's a hefty price tag. Just look up RM.
RM Williams.
I have 4 pairs.
One pair is now 20 years old and have been re-soled and re-heeled many times.
I took them to the factory for their opinion as they were my constant work boots for 20+ years and they gave me a $150 trade-in on a new pair as these were finally beyond repair.
You get what you pay for.
Oh man that speaks a lot about quality!!!
Dr Martens, they make more than just boots.
Last for years
Interesting. Thanks.
I work in the Corporate hospitality area.
What sort of work shoes you wear?
Plain Black dress shoes, no black runners or walking shoes. That being said I could get a quality pair of Allen Edmonds but for my work that I do… Ecco is my main choice mainly due to the insole and the SOLE is SUPER important… I usually wear down the soles really quickly but the Eccos hold up from being on my feet for most of the day.
Brand? Ecco
Price range? $190-$220
How often do you need to buy new pairs? Every 3-3.5 years or so.
Hospitality requires to look good while maintaining comfort. Good one, thanks.
And trust me there are a bunch of "dress" shoes that fall apart in 2 months and look cheap n horrid. Plus I think of it as an investment… bad shoes will kill your feet and it'll come to bite you later in life.
Like my colleague who gets her shoes 2nd hand from the OP shop…. NO-ONE should get 2nd hand cheap shoes from an OP shop…. lol
Agreed second hand shoes will hurt your body.
I've picked up a bunch of great second hand shoes from op shops, including a pair of Loakes, Allen Edmonds and (unbelievably) Brunello Cuccinelli shoes. That said, that was over a LOT of visits…
@Shiny Mew: Not sure why I've been downvoted.
My main pair of work shoes are a pair of Italian made boots, sort of like these. They're nice enough to wear with a pair of jeans on a night out, been to countless bars and clubs with them.
I've had them for nearly a decade, resoled once and repaired by an amazing cobbler in Sydney. Bought them for around $300.
Italian made footwear, if it's made well, seems to last quite a long time… although my sample size is 1. In contrast I have had Hush Puppies in the past that have worn out over a couple of years (but that was from being on my feet constantly).
Good looking boots. As soon as you said Italian you can somewhat rely on it as long as its authentic.
Painter. Kmart $15, new pair every 4 months
Nice mate.
Loake 1880
$250-$300
These shoes can be serviced and last many years.
Rivers Goodyear Welt Laceups

Thomas George Collection, RMW or Wootten.
If I had self-control, I'd only need a new pair every 10 years or so, but I don't, and like rotating a variety of styles so do so much more frequently.
Allen Edmonds has a sale on plus 30% off in cart

Shipping is around $36 to Australia.
I'm an office worker, designer. I wear Bally dress shoes, I can't remember the price as it's from Italy but they retail for near AUD$800-$1500. They're built to last a lifetime and I don't think I'll be changing shoes often and they are uniquely designed. I'm actually scouting for another pair just for having a different colour.
Look for goodyear welted shoes. It means it can be resoled forever, as long as you keep the top well taken care of. I got a pair of goodyear welted wingtips from ctshirts a few years ago during their big sale for about $130, pretty nice shoes for the sale price:
crosbys i think they were around $75 last about a year
Converse
$70
Every 9-12 months
