New generation PCIe 3.0 NVME drives with DRAM

So Kingston and WD launched their value series of NVME SSD's not long ago, the A2000 and new Blue series (I got the A2000). They're good value (duh) and heaps cheaper than the 970 evo plus, Samsung is going to release the 980 evo plus (PCIe 4.0) soon which will probably cost an arm and a leg.

I'd suggest giving the Kingston and WD a close look if you're in the market for a cheap NVME and can't tell the difference between a PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 like me.

  • Buy Pioneer 2280 if you are so price sensitive.

  • Just got the A2000 and installed it in my Macbook Pro. Works great!

    "Against vote = unattractive"

Unlike classier M.2 drives, the A2000 lacks a black PCB. Instead, it is a dull blue. Like the KC2000, the white sticker over top of the drive detracts even more from the aesthetics, as it is just plain ugly.

What kind of latte sipping, smashed avo on toast eating reviewer complains about pcb colour and stickers on a hard drive?

    • I thought about that, but my motherboard has its own NVME heat sink so i don't care how it looks. To be fair, it IS a cheap drive - the packaging is terrible, doesn't even have a box, but I didn't buy it for its box…..
