  • hmm no DLNA,
said "Network Wi-Fi Ready (802.11 g/n)*" but that may only be for bluray live stuff…
anyone knows if you can stream to it?

Got this one in an identical deal before father's day.
You can't stream to it. The WiFi is only for BD Live and firmware updates. It's no WD TV if that's what you're looking for, just your basic BluRay player with support for some video/audio/image formats via a front USB port.

And even then, "WiFi Ready" means it doesn't actually have WiFi - it requires a separate Philips USB WiFi dongle which (plugged into back USB port), assuming you can find anyone selling them in Australia, cost about $50. Normal USB WiFi dongles (the kind you can get for about $15 from DealExtreme) won't work.

It does have an ethernet port though, if you have a switch nearby. Alternatively you can use an ethernet-to-wifi bridge, or a cheap router with equivalent capability.
Of course if you can go without BD Live, firmware updates can be done via USB drive.

The PDF manual is easy enough to find online if you want to know more.

      • knew i should have got one of those 3d Bluray players from myer i post a couple of months back! 45 bux more though.

  • does it support 3d?

    • Nope

  • Doesn't do region free?

    • "Region BD Region Code: B - DVD Region Code: 4"

Would be nice at that price if it where region free. I got the cheap one from Clive Peeters a year or some back that was region bluray free and blue region free for around $99 - haven't seen a deal like that again. :(

      • What brand and type is it? I'm still looking for region free BD player for my region A discs.

        • Allure -was a rebadge of some other brand of player not sure what that was though

        • Region code hack

          DVD region

1.Power on with no disc in tray
          2.Press HOME
          3.Enter 1389310

          To check the current region

1.Power on with no disc inside
          2.Press HOME
          3.Enter 8520
