Monitor for Light Gaming/Work under $300

Looking to complete my AMD Ryzen 3600 build with all the bargains on here.

Would I be best to wait for another bargain on the AOC C24G1 or should I get this Acer KG241QS 23.6" FreeSync 1920x1080 Monitor $279?

Seems to have similar specs with the AOC monitor which was on sale a few days ago.

  • That's a TN panel. Avoid. You want an IPS panel ideally for work and light gaming.

Also, 24" is pretty small nowadays, consider a 27" or even 32" in higher res than 1080p as prices start to come back down.

    My recommendation: https://www.centrecom.com.au/viewsonic-vx3276-mhd-32-ultra-s…

    • Thanks for replying. Will definitely wait now for a better deal

      • There's a 2K version of same monitor that used to be $300 (when I got it) and well worth it.

        • Is 1ms for response time really important for games such as Age of Empires?

          • @pingualien: Nope. More for competitive play and primarily first person shooters.

The AOC 24G2 is a 144Hz IPS for $300 - currently you get a $40 steam voucher too.

    • will most likely get this monitor

for the steam voucher. Make sure you take a photo of the monitor serial number (on the back near connector ports) before connecting to your pc.

Note - make sure you read the claim T&Cs.

        • thanks! trying to find it for under 300, but with shipping goes to like 315

Id recommend widescreen for better productivity and games will feel more immersive LG have some budget ones here are some examples https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Monitors/25plus-inch/638… or https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Monitors/25plus-inch/793…

    • thanks randomfox, will have a look into these widescreen ones

    • I bought the 25” on your recommendation but then realized the refresh rate is slow. Arrrgh big mistake.. oh well. The reviews on amazin are really bad too. Many ppl said it died within 1 yr. Gonna write it off on tax luckily.

  • I'm trying to find a monitor for the missus too. She's in the same situation as you. I have 2x Viewsonic VA2719-2K which have been good, but it's $349 (I bought last year for $249).
