EUFY 2C or Hikvision 6MP system

Hi all,

I can't decide between the Hikvision 6MP security system or Eufy 2C 1080P system.

It's for a home setup.

I am swaying towards the Eufy 2C because it will integrate with my Eufy doorbell and the phone application seems more user friendly.

Being hardwired and better MPs makes the Hikvision a better quality device.

But the spotlight and alarm on the cameras are great on the Eufy.

What do you all recommend?

Price for the Hikvision is $1100
Price for the Eufy is $600

  • I wanted to hardwire some WiFi cams but my house is double storey. I have a combination of 2C and Gen 1 Eufy and works fine for me. I don't mind the charging process - mine doesn't last a year, but that's because I don't mind long footage records on frequent basis. I'd rather have the footage than have it cut off.

  • I did the hikvision cams and blue iris thing but tbh it's a lot of stuffing around, I have to run another pc to have the cameras running etc. If I had my time again I would go eufy.

  • I got 6MP dahua cams with NVR, powered by POE. Setting up was quiet challenging, but somewhat happy with the result. You might wanna rethink on the alarm feature unless the cam in indoor, or cam has more recent features like heat detection. Setting up IVS or motion detection can be really tricky.
I like the quality of the video, but not so much on the IVS. But I can't complain much as I went with the entry model. I would definitely consider better detection features in the future.
Also, if you are considering NVR, consider avoiding entry model on that as well. I have no issues viewing substreams, but when it comes to the mainstream… its whole different story.

  • Thanks for your advice.

The added bonus of moving the cameras at anytime, easy installation and half the price is swaying me towards the Eufy, plus it will integrate with the doorbell and door/window alarms.

What are your thoughts on the Hikvision phone app?

    • i love my EUFY cams but the only issue is trigger lag so the feed records when the person or vehicle has almost passed the camera angle. Eufy promised to rectify this in software updates but still nothing to date.

Cam definitely doesnt last 1 year but i choose to record much more than what i suspect they use as minimum requirements for it to last 1 year.

      • Which Eufy model are you using? 2C or others?

        • Eufy Cam only atm

      • I totally agree with your comments. The biggest failing of the eufycam is trigger lag. Also, the app is useless for watching recorded videos. If I want to see more detail frame by frame, I download the video to my phone and watch it with VLC. Don't hold your breath waiting for software updates from Eufy. Also, one of my eufycams is totally exposed to the weather (I had no choice) and is absolutely useless when it is raining because the lens is obscured.

        • Have just experienced the obscured lens in the rain last night. Definitely not happy about that.

          • +1

@Eyetie: It's a pity there is no visor above the lens or a skin with a visor.
Have you noticed when playing a video recording via the app that the first few seconds is accelerated? So the activity which triggered the camera (albeit with a lag) can only be reviewed properly with an app like VLC. Definitely needs a software update.

  • I wonoder if anyone has tried Eufy USA + ShopMate?

  • I have 9 of the hikvision 6MP. Love the APP although I wish my NVR had smart home integration. Self installed, which was a pain in the ass, and now i have to sell after 3 months of ownership due to separation.
