Vlingo Voice App - Free for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad

333

Vlingo Voice app now free (with all functionalities enabled - used to need to make in-app purchases to enable some key features). Basically, Siri like features for your i-device(s) free.

Yes, it is free on Android and was partially free on i-Devices. However, now Apple made Siri "free" on iPhone 4S, Vlingo made this app completely free.

Just goes to show that you don't need to buy an iPhone 4S to get Siri like features (now Apple pulled the Siri app. out of iTunes AppStore).

Mod: App was always free but in app features were not. Thus, IMO it belongs as a deal

  • wasn't it always free?

    • Voice SMS and E-mail used to require in-app purchase - according to the change log.

but now they are a permanent free feature…

    Android has always free,

the real Quest is was the I tunes app paid before ?

If it was always free maybe this post needs to go to the forums,
its a pretty good app nevertheless,

    Always free anyway.

Check out the App Activity. Free since first released on 3 Dec 2008.

    • Voice SMS and E-mail weren't free. Read page 1 of appshopper or read the iTunes page.

Will ask mod to remove it.

They are now… permanently… so it's just freeware and belongs in the forums…

        • +3

dont think so other people have put "now free" before and they have scored quite well!

think this deserves a post of its own!

        • have put "now free"

it's always been a free app… all they've done now is add some new free functionality…

  • +5

it was not free for blackberry, great post. dont delete!

just because it was free for a few devices before no need to neg it for other people!

  • Love it. Siri!!

But isn't it a bit strange Apple called their Personal Assistant feature after Tom Cruise's daughter…..

    • +4

Actually makes a bit more sense when you consider that Steve Wozniak is a freemason and that Scientology
      has links to freemasonry…
oh and also apple sold their first computers for $666
the bitten apple logo represents adam and eve obeying satan

dont believe me then ask siri on friday

      • +2

666.66 but still freaky none the less!

i can see Tom Cruise suing Apple over this…

      • like tom cruise is richer than apple? more like you can see Tom Cruise daughter changed her name ;)

        • +2

changed to "The Child Formerly Known as Siri"

    • +9

Considering Tom Cruise's daughter is Suri, not Siri, I don't think it's strange at all.

        oh no he di'ent!

    Grey area,

Firstly, don't change the title to get the attention of the mods. Use the Report button.

Secondly, I gather that this app has always been free but some in app features were not. The in app features are now free, so I think that deserves a post (IMO) as it can be a good deal for some. Instead of negative voting because you think something needs to go to the forums, hit the report button. Why? Well if you are correct, then the votes are removed when they are moved to the forums. If it remains as a deal then your negative votes makes no sense as it remains a deal. Vote for the deal not for where it belongs on OzBargain.

    Thanks!

    • If it remains as a deal then your negative votes makes no sense as it remains a deal.

i think it does make sense because some people believe that a free app with new features is still a free app, so no bargain…

      • Yeah with new features, bazinga!

JV NO just use the REPORT button, then the mods can decide. Unless of course you are stupid enough to volunteer as a mod….

        • Damn you, ozpete, you made me log in just so I could up vote your comment :)

        • You should of used all caps ozpete lol

        • Not that I want to be seen publicly defending JV (heaven forbid) but that fact he doesn't see this as a bargain, as he's stated several times and given his reasons for his neg vote, well within the accept rules of this glorious site?

  • Is it customizable to Australian locale or is it more for US/NA customers.

  • Thank you O.P for letting me know about this Apps.
I didn't even know it existed.

  • I have this installed for free by default on my SGS2 - however with all voice programs… they're fairly shitty and don't really understand our crazy Australian accents. My SGS2 voice program has less success than the one that was on my SGS1.

  • I doubt Siri will understand Aussie accent or asian accent neither.

This is all crap anyway don't bother with vlingo or siri

    • My phone came with vlingo and it does understand an asian accent.
