We're excited to announce your local Greater Union Morley cinema is open from Thursday 2 July

I live 2 minutes from Morley Galleria.. i'd rather drive 15-20mins to Innaloo due to Morley being the biggest shi@hole ever.. those cinemas are falling apart, god knows what lifeforms are growing on the seats…
Chinese owners of Morley Galleria refuse to upgrade that complex, its falling apart..

    • Who owns Innalo?

      • Pretty sure Event does for how long it’s been there. I know they own Joondalup and lease it to Grand.

Innaloo isn’t much better. Sizzler has tape holding the entrance together after being eaten by termites years ago. The toilets always stink like piss and haven’t been upgraded in years. The cinemas are nice but the rest of the place really needs some investment, expecting them to close in the next 10 years anyway. Warwick is pretty much the same. Whitford is nice after the renos and hardly anyone goes there.

Both Morley and Innaloo desperately need renos. I’m really surprised given how busy Innaloo always seems to be that they can’t afford one.

Surprised to hear about Warwick. Admittedly haven’t been there in a couple years but when I last went they just completed a renovation and everything looked pretty good.

Very glad I live SOR now. Usually alternate between HOYTS Carousel and Reading Belmont. No complaints about either from me.

      • Karryinup are opening a cinema I believe, might be nice and plush being brand new.

        • yeah that should be awesome once it opens..

        • Yep, can’t wait.

      • Maybe the profit margin isn't as high as you think it is considering movie studios takes most of the cut from tickets sold in the first few weeks hence why high candy shop prices plus the overhead running huge facility.

        • Oh for sure, fully aware the profit margin is very little but that doesn’t change the facts.

Innaloo won't be renovated as they're waiting for the Innaloo shopping centre to be redeveloped (could be delayed due to covid now).
That being said all Event cinemas these days i feel are falling apart. The last time i went to the cinema was Reading cinemas Belmont where you can get a full on recliner for the price of a standard ticket at Events, oh and the cinemas are waaayyyy newer.

        • I would expect they own the land for how long it’s been there so assume they’re waiting to just bulldoze their place and redevelop rather than bother renovating.
The VMax and Gold class experience is awesome it’s just the other facilities are a shambles.

          • @Roger Ramjet: Try Reading Cinemas in Belmont, You'll quickly realise just how average and overpriced V-max and gold class is.

    • I like palace cinemas in Raine square. Fairly new seats are comfy.

  • Double post

  • Hoyts Millennium, Carousel are v good. Can't comment on Southlands as never been in a long time.

Garden City is terrible, worse than any Event cinema which is saying something.

Not sure if NOR has any cinemas that are good quality standard?

    • +1

Probably Event Whitford as it's pretty much brand new.

Ace Cinemas in Midland isn't too bad, from the few times I've been there.

    • Southlands is pretty good, same seats as Carousel with much easier parking
