Comprising hundreds of Trump tweets, and featuring a foreword by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Jon Meacham, and even a place for readers to add their own future Trump tweet highlights - because he is making new Twitter history literally every day - The Donald J. Trump Presidential Twitter Library is a unique portrait of an artist whose masterworks will be studied by historians, grammarians, and mental health professionals for years to come.

Some reviews from goodreads.com:

A sardonic collection of Trump's glory through his very own Tweets, analysis of those Tweets, a few touches of artwork, and helpful additional insights where needed. It's the perfect coffee table book.

I have never laughed so hard at anything so depressing in my life! The tweets themselves are hilarious in their self-incrimination of the Idiot in Chief, but the accompanying critical commentary is just priceless.

A really funny book until you remember these are real tweets by a crazy person who is ruining America. My opinion.
It is strange to read these tweets and know what has happened after the fact. And the tweets sampled aren't just attacking the haters and losers. No one is safe from his rants. From movie stars, NFL and political people on both sides.
It is eye opening and I recommend this book to everyone.

  • Had to buy it at that price. Don’t know what to do it when I get it - find a Trump fan somewhere.

I use an umbrella because I mostly like getting wet.

Who's "they" and what policies do they agree with? Pretty sure The Daily Show doesn't agree with anything of his, certainly not sacking the pandemic staff just before a pandemic and then having a catastrophic response that's allowed scores of thousands to die.

      • -2

"They" are the corporate tools on TV that make fun of Trump while ignoring many of his policies because they align with military and corporate interests.

        • Building a wall along the Mexican border was a policy that was mocked but it was also a desire of both Clintons.
        • The cages that housed many asylum seekers were made during the Obama years
        • Economic and diplomatic wars with Venezuela and Russia and any country defying American sanctions
        • The invasion of Syria and arming terrorists was mostly a bipartisan effort and cheered on by the media
        • Increasing the military budget, extending the Patriot Act, extending the DARPA, continuation of the drone policy
        • The non-prosecution of torturers and the architects of torture
        • The demonisation and prosecution of whistleblowers like John Kiriakou, Edward Snowden, Bill Binney, and publishers like Wikileaks
        • The bailout of Wall Street during the GFC and pandemic to transfer wealth from the poor to the rich
        • The tax policies that ensure preferential treatment for the wealthy
        • Little willingness to reform the democractic process (voter suppression, electoral college, gerrymandering, ranked-choice voting, etc.)
        • Accusations of bribery with Ukraine after Joe Biden engaged in worse bribery with Ukraine

        …and the list goes on

        Regarding the pandemic:
        - The Obama administration failed at ensuring there were sufficient ventilators, much like the Trump admin
        - While the majority of Americans are in favour of medicare-for-all, both parties and the media are against it
        - Congress and the Fed are very eager to respond to the desires of the financial speculators, banks, and large corporations but offer crumbs for the public and no UBI

But the media and "opposition" focus on tweets and silly press conferences because it doesn't threaten systemic corruption or the elites.

I agree with you on much of that, for sure neoliberalism is the scourge. Anyone who thinks the Dems are a left-wing party has rocks in their head. That being said, Trump is particularly odious and worst of all, his actions have directly caused the deaths of thousands of citizens, look at the spike of this pandemic in the southern states in particular, and don't forget all his "LIBERATE!" tweets during lockdown.

This whole episode alone shows, even if both parties are neoliberal hawks that are given over to corporate interests (and i think you are right that both sides are), that being the case, he's still an incomprehensibly dangerous madman beyond anything we've seen and he has directly caused the deaths of so many citizens now. It's not good enough to blame Obama on the ventilators thing, Trump had plenty of time and warning, same as Bo-Jo in the UK, both of those leaders should frankly not just be deposed but should be charged with criminal negligence with what they've done to their respective countries.

          • +1

@Iggemo: Regarding the shortage of ventilators - it started with the Obama administration and merely continued with Trump. A smallish company was contracted to make affordable ventilators but they got bought out by a larger company that had expensive equipment that would've been under threat from the smaller company. Then, they dragged their feet and never really fulfilled the contract and the government didn't seem to care.

Undoubtedly, the Trump admin made things worse when they crippled the pandemic department. Yet, what has "the opposition" done or tried to do to ease the suffering of the US public on both economic and health issues? They asked for oversight of where the stimulus money was going and Trump simply ignored it. Bernie Sanders made a stink about offering money to sacked/furloughed workers but that policy was already covered/created by another politician. And AOC makes impassioned speeches about the need to look after families and the poor while never actually criticising her own party for ignoring that need. Every time Bernie had an interview, he was asked how medicare-for-all would be funded and why he was trying to increase the costs for American families. The corporate media don't want to see meaningful healthcare reform that threatens the profits of the pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and insurers.

@kahn: Politics is just a dirty, dirty arena and in general it doesn't matter if Red Party or Blue Party wins an election, The Machine will grind on as normal. End result is that the population cattle just get manipulated and screwed in slightly different ways.

USA under @realDonaldTrump is something else however. It is simply staggering how inflammatory and divisive his rhetoric is, but even more staggering that it is lapped up by The Base like sweet milk.

It's a little microcosm (which is kinda macro) which indicates to me that we're all travelling down the road to completely f@cked in a shiny red convertible and we're worried about our hair.

@g452: That's all true, but in a similar way to how Trump supporters are brainwashed by his fake populism, the "opposition" and its obedient media are brainwashing the rest of the country with Russia gate, fake concern over Ukraine, and fake concern with Brett Cavanagh.

If you are concerned about division, then you can also blame the 24hr news cycle created during the OJ Simpson trial, the telecommunication act passed by the Bill Clinton, the CIA and FBI, and media elites like Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes.

                • +1

@kahn: Yep, that's all part of The Machine too. A very small fraction of the world does very, very well from it.

Trump is genuinely hilarious. I still can't stop laughing about the "Don't worry I won't do this …" Greenland Tweet.
