  a cheap used iphone with a case would be better purchase imo, decent specs and theyre pretty durable if you get an 7 or 8

      i paid 150 aud for a iphone 7 a year or two ago but it was just a suggestion

        Fair enough.
        We are an Android family, though … so it would be weird if we'd get an iphone for our son.
        Anyway, I'm looking at something that would be relatively undestructable, as the kid is hyperactive and tends to break stuff … :)

  I'm quite the fan of rugged Android phones. If I had to choose I'd go for the Armor X5. One of the big things that sticks out is that it uses 4G B28 for much better coverage with a provider like Telstra, while the X7 does not have it. The Armor X5 also offers a better CPU/GPU and slightly better camera (if that matters), but obviously has 1GB less of RAM.
