Warranty for Belkin Surge

So I have a Belkin Surge protector. https://www.belkin.com/au/p/P-BSV604-2M%20/
One of the ports has been damaged and keeps on creating power surges on my PC but I chucked away the receipt and seems like it is needed. Is there anything that people have come across with claiming Belkin defects?

Said they'd replace it if i can find my receipt.

Cheers, if there's nothing then i may just have to buy a new one

Some places accept a credit card statement, although if it's not itemised then it may not help. If you have the statement, you may be able to get a reprint from the store you purchased it from (the time/date on the statement helps the store limit their search) however stores can be hesitant to provide these.

If you don't have any luck there buy a new one, I think those ones are only $50-60.

    end thread.

      cheers

    • They are required to accept an electronic statement as proof of purchase without a physical receipt by ACL.

But of course ACL is not enforced and widespread fraud occurs as a normal thing in Australia.

      • However a electronic statement is not necessarily a Proof of purchase if it is not itemised (and not many C/c statements are itemised past what shop they were purchased at).

If a statement says you purchased something from JB Hifi for $264.75, how do they know it was a particular item discounted from $299, or that a surge protector was purchased with it?

Some companies accept it straight away, some can then look up the transaction, some require more proof.

Straight from the receipts section of the ACL:
"Sometimes a consumer may need to provide more than one type of proof of purchase to support their claim—for example, when a receipt does not clearly itemise the faulty goods or service."

  • Unethical Life Pro Tip: Buy a new one and keep the receipt. After 1 week, return the broken one and ask for a refund using the new receipt.

    • Not just unethical - could be considered theft or fraud
