Microsoft Closing Mixer on 22 July

After buying Beam in 2016, rebranding it Mixer in the following year and last year paying millions to get Ninja to move from Twitch to Mixer Microsoft has now announced they're shutting it down.

Getting Rare Replay and Outer Wilds for free and other random mixpots was probably the highlight.

    What is a mixer?

This is an example of a cheap one. IHTH

  • I think it's a sweet deal for Ninja and Shroud who were paid copious amounts to move there and lost a lot of viewers.
They'll come back to Twitch perhaps bigger than ever. Or perhaps other streamers have filled the void they left.

I always get Outer Wilds confused with The Outer Worlds.

According to "reports" the deal they signed had a signup bonus and a monthly payment guarantee above and beyond paid subscriptions. (as in they were promised $XXX per month and if sub's did not meet that amount then Mixer topped it up)

So they wont see the money they were promised and will now have to go back to the (still amazing but lower than the mixer deal) money on twitch and twitch might not give them the cut they were previously getting (Ninja apparently was on 60/40 with Twitch, while most streamers are on 50/50 or even only getting 30-40% of the sub money)

Twitch might even be nasty and refuse to make them partners again or make them work their way back to partnership etc

I didn't think about the partnership aspect of it. I guess Twitch can force their hand since people are coming grovelling back.
Plus Fortnite isn't as big as it was last year. I think Warzone has a lot of the bigger streamers attention. Fortnite was simply Flavour of the Year.

I feel some streamers make more from donos alone though. Generally the ones with Text to Speech and a toxic community.

        • I legit watch the text to speech fails on youtube most days
          some of those are gold!

        • Yeah it's not like the release a new COD every six months or anything.

          • @Diji1: It'll be interesting to see what happens with the new CoD which may go back to Blops.

What happens with Warzone? Will they simply use the same game engine and launcher? Three title screens, one for WZ, MW MP and then Blops MP?
They won't want to split their player base. Warzone exists to entice people to buying the Battle Pass and also Multiplayer.
