Does anyone know of any good deals going on at the moment ? I've been hunting Ebay and Gumtree without much luck. Willing to pay $15-$18 (max) per week for passport membership.

Trying to find the "best deal" at finance first is like asking which type of hepatitis is better. Avoid the fuckers like the plague. They charge like a wounded bull & don't offer anything you wont find at any other gym charging half the price or less.
Fitness First has won it`s nickname Finance First within a very short time.

I used to be a member and I liked it. I find though that you have to negotiate your contract there. If you are willing to do that, you can usually get a better rate ;)
Also, do you know any friends that go there? If so, get them to bring you as a guest and act really indecisive about joining. They might be willing to cut you a deal.
A friend mentioned that foundation memberships are cheaper - so if you join within a month (?? - don't quote me) of the gym opening then you will pay a discounted rate.
