Yale Assure Keyed Electronic Deadbolt $263 | Z-Wave Module $64 @ JB Hi-Fi

130

Yale Assure Keyed Digital Deadbolt YRD426NRSC is now on sale @ JB Hi-Fi for $263.

Previous OzB deals for $299+$50 cashback and $299.

This is the Bluetooth version with the key backup (I prefer this instead of having to use 9V battery backup). I bought mine about a month ago for $280 (OW price beat Bunnings). Reason for going with Yale was that it was straight replacement for existing Lockwood (owned and now rebranded by Yale) deadlock. It uses standard Australian key cylinder so it could be easily re-keyed to match other locks around the house (unlike Samsung).

Bluetooth function and Yale App are rubbish. Within a week I bought Z-Wave network module to replace Bluetooth one (unfortunately can't have both), and never looked back.
Lock is now integrated with Home Assistant and works great :)

Cheapest Z-Wave enabled lock I could find currently is $399 on sale. It is only $327 for Bluetooth Lock plus Network Module (Z-Wave or Zigbee) @ JB.

Price beat @ Bunnings or Officeworks to save even more :)

YRD426NRSC Keyed Digital Deadbolt $263 $295 $298
YRD-ZWM-1 Z-Wave Network Module $64 $75 $80
YRD-ZBM-1 Zigbee Network Module $64 Not Stocked $80

  • Great deal. Just wish I could find somewhere to buy the August module separately

I got mine from eBay a few months ago but it seems that Yale is bringing August to Australia soon, under the "Yale Access" brand. the App is already in the iOS and Android stores and is exactly the same is the August app (apart from the logo) - uses the same login, etc. With them promoting it on their Australian Instagram page, there is hope that we will see it locally soon - https://www.yaleaccess.com/en/

Hope this model is better than their other wireless deadlocks. https://youtu.be/-d760fMfiNc

  • How smart is this, does the automatic relock operates when the door is still open. I've owned a couple of smart American brand digital deadlock (schlage, honeywell, Lockwood) and all of them are so dumb they just relock after set time if you enable it, regardless whether the door is still open). My friend samsung one on the other hand only do that when the door shut, in fact it immediately lock if you shut the door if you enabled that function. Wouldn't pay a cent for another so called smart lock but so dumb.

    • Yeap - this one is "dumb" in that way :)
It doesn't have door sensor (like Samsung) so it will auto-relock (if you wish) after predefined time. Mine is set to 3 minutes (which is max), and haven't had issues with it. If this lock had a sensor - it would have been perfect!
Still, everyone at my place loves it and we no longer carry keys.

That's pretty much useless and way overpriced then, eventually the deadbolt will give away from frequent slamming unless you put in a sensor and intergrate with home assistant to prevent it from locking while opened

  • Have had my (Lockwood branded) zwave version of this for four years now. Entire family thinks it's great.

  • How easy is it to install this by yourself?

    • +1

Depends on what you have now.
I had existing Lockwood of this type with 54mm hole and installation was just a simple swap :)

  • Do you sometimes get jammed bolt that does not retract despite entering the correct PIN?

    https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/yale-assure-lock-issues/

    • The article mentioned the solution here: "As for the jammed bolt, I realised that the bolt recess wasn’t deep enough. Drilling away an additional quarter of an inch gave the bolt sufficient room to travel and alleviated that issue."

Wish they have smart version for deadlatch.

    • No - haven't had jamming issues at all. My existing door frame strike plate was perfect fit so I haven't even installed the new one.

  • I am interested in using this Yale lock, but I want a doorbell and Yale lock to operate on both an iPhone and Android.

Also can the doorbell and Yale lock be operated either on a Google Hub or Alexa Echo inside the house.

Can anyone help me out please :) I am getting confused by the modules.
