A friend of mine in FL is on a much tighter budget than I. I want to buy him a month (maybe more) of a plan that will allow him to ring/text me here in AU. Happy to buy a cheap, outright phone for him.
Anyone have recent experience (pre-covid)?

Does he have internet at home? Using wifi and FaceTime or WhatsApp calling would be best for calling Australia. Most stores have free wifi so that could also work? Otherwise I think T-Mobile is the best for “value”. I’d be looking at walmart or something for a cheap prepaid phone. Could try Amazon as well.
Probably easier to find a cheap/free data call service like facetime.
