Desktop Speakers Recommendations under $400

Hi guys,

Recently my audio engine A2 no longer work due to a power surge and just make hissing sounds now.

I was wondering since repairing in Australia is so expensive.. what are good replacement speakers for under 400?

I've noticed that A2 speakers are not that well received by most audio enthusiast and not sure why. As they sound great other than the annoying v cone shaped sounds (if you move away from the centre sounds very distorted)

  There is Audio Engine P4, Swan D1080-IV to check out.
  EDIT: I just wonder how much it will cost if the manufacturer repairs the speaker?

    I'll find out on Monday, but I don't think it'll be cheap. Since Australian support is rubbish compared to the US. (Whom i've spoken to and they've said they don't have any way currently for Australia other than 3rd parties or going through to the distributor.
