7.5% off JB Hi-Fi eGift Cards (Was 5%) @ Reward Gateway (Membership Required)

810

I missed yesterday’s deal, but it turned out to be a fizzer IMHO (6% off Woolies gift cards, only a 1% increase), but today’s makes up for it. An extra 2.5% off JB egift cards, which makes me happy because I’m going in today to upgrade my MacBook and it will save me another $70 or so.

For the curious, Reward Gateway is a program for employers to offer discounts and other services to their employees, so if your workplace has one check to see if it’s the same provider. I posted about joining costs here. It seems pretty evident it’s aimed at medium to large enterprise, but if your company is at the smaller end it may still be worthwhile contacting them to ask anyway.

Here’s the fine print for today’s deal.

They really sell up to 5K of gift cards ?

I have some other programs I'm in that state higher limits but when it comes to the crunch don't honor it .

    • +1

Usually what you get are multiple egift cards up to $1k each. I’ve done that once before with JB on a $2900 purchase and got three individual cards of $1k-$1k-$900.

If you do it too frequently then your account might be flagged and possibly ban for abusing the system

      • I bought $9800 of TGG gift cards the other day without issue, had to bank deposit for the $5000 order though

If you aren't sure if your employer offers Reward Gateway membership, go to Google and search for:

    site:rewardgateway.com.au inurl:Authentication

This will give you a list of all Reward Gateway login pages for Australia, so check to see if any of them match your workplace. List includes employers like GE, PepsiCo, SunSuper, CUA, Accenture, Glencore.

You can also sign up directly yourself through API Leisure for $9.75 per month. If you're employed by Queensland Police Service you can pay that by payroll deduction, otherwise it's direct debit.

Yes, if it’s a physical product (but not gift or iTunes cards) then you can use them for purchase. I’m just walking out of JB right now with a brand new MacBook Pro under my arm. :)

It was like a 7 day special promotion.

Got 6% off WISH egift cards and SCA 15% off ones, and Myer? Not likely to get The Good Guys or JB.

    • +1

Did you read the title of this post?

  • Hah I was going to buy something yesterday but held out against the possibility today's deal would be JB. Winning!

    (Combine with 20% off movies)

  • What's the benefit for the employers to offer such membership I wonder? Do they get a cut of gc purchased? Or is it just an added incentive for employees?

    • +1

No added cut from what I am aware, when I looked into it a couple of years ago neither they or the company make a cut of purchases.
It's generally a part of companies Employee Value Proposition. Helps keep the company competitive for talent, and part of their employee retention strategy.
$45 per employee seems expensive at the front, but if you were to take the figure as a % of an annual pay rise, it's insignificant. Plus the impact of an extra $45 pay rise is nothing. Compare that to employee's getting access to the discount portal…

      • +1

So the employee loses money while imagining they're coming out on top by getting a 5% discount on some other money that they lost.

      • Well, that's the thing, does the employee actually value the membership being only $45 a year? plus places like Suncorp reward can buy pretty readily too.

I meant I gave at least $100 cash to my staff just as a thank you for Xmas already, would this add any value in that regard? Its not the money I'm worried, but the value rather.

    • +1 to what juicenburg said. Reward Gateway also offer other services, too. For example, in our case we’ve recently been given access to an employee recognition scheme where staff can nominate their colleagues for an award, and these can then be cashed in for eGift cards for later use (I got one and turned it into a JB card). Plus there’s an eCard portal where staff can send a shout-out to other staff like a ‘virtual high-5‘, and which is visible by the entire company. It’s all pushed pretty hard by the P&C team as a benefit to working for the company, too.

      • -1

High fiving each other about not being paid because of this deceptive program.

        Yay!

  • This week and the following week. JB HIFI card is on promotion in wws. Nearly 10% bonus back. This week is For kids and teens. Next week is For home. All of them can be used in JB.

    • +1

One thing to note about this is the physical gift cards come in fixed denominations ($50, $100), whereas through this scheme you can actually specify down to the dollar how much you need.

So (for example) if your thing costs $125 you either only get 10% off the first $100, or buy $150 and have $25 sitting there for however long until you need it next.

      • Not to mention that unlike the ones fishes2222 is talking about (who refers to it as WWS? It's Woolies.), these can be instantly used online; the Ultimate Cards you'd have to convert to JB Hi-Fi gift cards first before using them online.

Personally dont think its worth it, can just get cheaper stuff using ebay and other places like marketplace etc.
