Alternative to Google Chromecast Audio for Adding Bt Functionality

Hi all

I have an old Sony speaker that had BT functionality but for some reason it doesn't connect anymore. Tried everything to reset it.
The other functions work like radio and aux so seems a shame to chuck it.

My idea was originally to add google chromecast audio via line in but seems they have been discontinued for years.

Any other cheap-ish ways to enable this?

    Maybe you could try factory reseting it? Just google it.
    Otherwise, it might be impossible if its using an old BT protocol, and your new devices don't support that protocol.

    The logitech ones are around locally, also you can just get a bluetooth receiver with 3.5mm output (USB powered) off ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=bluetooth+… or aliexpress https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=S…

    Might as well get a bluetooth 5.0 one for easier device switching. This cheap ones generally only have range of about 3m but they are functional.

    Other option is a chromecast audio refurb off kogan, or a current chromecast with a HDMI to 3.5mm adapter.

    You can do the same with an Echo Dot, $49 at the moment and you get yourself a neat little speaker too.

    Logitech Bluetooth Audio Adapter. Mine was $40 at officeworks, has been perfect for 6 months +

    Thanks all - will prob go a Dot.
    House is currently all google assistant - wouldn't hurt to have alexa to i guess.

    Alternatively get a Mi Box S 4k around $90 on amazon au … It has 3.5mm stereo out or spdif in one jack (like the chromecast audio). It works with chromecast. You can either connect hdmi or not.
