Samsung EVO SSDs - Anyone Have Any Experience Having Them over Five Years?

I've got a 500GB Samsung EVO 850 SSD as my main boot drive on a laptop that's on 24/7.
Hard disk sentinel tells me it's been up for 1515 days, and "estimated remaining lifetime" is 267 days.

Has anyone had their SSDs fail right after the 5 year mark?
Samsung Magician says I'm only at 70TBW so I'm far away from the 150TBW mark for this drive.

Seeing a lot of deals for Samsung EVO 860 SSDs due to EOFY sales and wonder if I should preemptively get one.

Hmm bit of a sticky situation there, just swing by one of those internet shops and see if you can rope in a new one.

Thought I'd be up there but only at the 800hr mark. Just be safe and buy another one. They're cheap enough these days.

I'd say it makes sense to (1) not keep anything important on the drive and (2) keep a cold spare around in case it fails and you need to change it over to keep going.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if it'll end up lasting many years more.

I just checked my laptop SSD for OS (Drevo X1-60GB) which I am using for more than 4 years like you.
But HDSentinel shows, power on time = 37days 13 hours and Estimated remaining lifetime = 0 days
So, I am skeptical about those value.

Pretty sure I've had my 250GB 850 EVO since 2014 and it's still running fine. It's no longer my primary drive though.

If data is important and money is not an issue, get a new one or back it up to a cheap HDD.
I found out my Crucial SSD failed when my 24/7 laptop started freezing randomly after 3-4 years usage.
I ignored this issue for like 6 months because the laptop was still usable and the drive was perfectly write-able.
By the time I realised what was happening, I could only recover 25% of the data.
Every file still exists in the drive but unreadable (when you copy them over, it's just 0 kB/s).

840 EVO purchased in 2014. Still fine. It was OS drive until recently when I moved to an NVME. I think the big thing with SSDs is to ensure they aren't constantly full.

Good to have a daily incremental backup system in place if you don't want to lose any data.

I have a Crucial M4 128GB SSD. It was bought 8 years ago and it's still going (touchwood)

Samsung 850 EVO 120 GB bought in mid 2015
Currently at 10 TBW mark and I think it is rated at 75TBW
Been using it as main boot drive and works fine.
    Didnt try hard disk sentinel

    HD Sentinel says

    Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB
    Power On Time … … … … … . . : 1718 days, 15 hours
    Estimated Remaining Lifetime … … … . : 93 days
    Lifetime Writes … … … … … . : 164.95 TB
    Health … … … … … … … : ##################— 93 % (Excellent)
    Performance … … … … … … : #################—- 88 % (Excellent)
There are 2 bad sectors on the disk surface. The contents of these sectors were moved to the spare area.

Using as boot drive, on pretty much 24/7. Purchase date unknown. Over last 2 years used to 80-90% of capacity, more free space before that. Would like to replace with a 2TB version but prices for them are overdone IMO
