Not the cheapest it's been (has been as low as $450/$475) but still a good price for a great product.

Yeah as soon as it gets back down to the $450-475 mark again I'm picking one up for sure.

  • Looks like it's out of stock already?

    • Showing oos for me too

  • Don't support companies that implement planned obsolescence for a cash grab. Speakers should last half a life time, not a couple of years.

    • How did they plan to make it obsolete? Why won't it work in a few years?

      • I'm not talking about this product specifically but Sonos have shown their true colours lately. They did sightly redeem themselves, but I wouldn't trust the execs if they get desperate for more revenue. Google for 'Sonos Planned Obsolescence'

        • Huh built in kill switch. Yeah not good lol.

    • I think the 12+ years I've squeezed out of the majority of my SONOS gear is very decent indeed plus I now get 30% off the replacement units. I personally think they've done an excellent job however I can see how some may not think so.

I think you've missed the point. You shouldn't even need to replace perfectly good working speakers. But go ahead and throw them on the tip for some new software features.

        • Ha. They're not speakers and I definitely won't be throwing them away… but I will enjoy using the replacements that's for sure :)

        • I think you missed the point too @blurturkey45. Sonos still allows you to operate the older speakers on S1 of their software rather than the latest S2. They don’t brick the older-gen speakers. They didn’t force you to replace them either. They just can’t be grouped together with S2-based speakers. The speakers are still fully-operational. They gave you an option to upgrade with a 30% discount. These Sonos speakers are not your conventional dumb speakers and they thrive on software updates.

Do you happen to own any Sonos speakers by any chance or this is from a person who has hatred for a company who never used any of their products? Does your non-Sonos speakers from 2005 supports multi-room capabilities? Can you name any audio company that still provides software/firmware supports for their products past the 15-year mark?

          • @wingzee: For people who bought Sonos at launch I'm sure are happy with their purchases. However some were buying the now end of life products up until last year without any indication that Sonos was about to sunset it. It was a deceitful strategy to generate more revenue and move old stock.
