[Android, iOS] Free App: Prino Pro (Price Tracking/History) (Was $7.99) @ Google Play / Apple App Store

3390

I'm using this app quite often now beside OZB. It has price tracking function, price history for hundred stores. Sort by discount % is great.

Pro version has no ads, up to 6 months price history.

Link for android

Happy bargain hunting.

    Great app. Thanks OP.

  • +1

I do not see option to Sort by discount % on iOS. Is there anyway to search product?

    • +2

I'm using android and the function comes up when after I hit search button or choose a store. Not sure about iOS

      • +1

ah, I was trying to do it for all the stores.

  • +2

No option to set price alerts.
No option to click on the graph for precise historical prices.
    Otherwise ok.

    • I'm sure that if you add item in favourite after signing. The app sends email whenever price changes
Yeah, graph is just for roughly reference

      • +2

Maybe. I prefer setting the price threshold for an alert. I've already deleted the app.

        • +22

Your feedback is well noted. We'll include price threshold for an alert in the next release of the app.

        • A new version of the app will be available tomorrow with this feature. Stay tuned.

        • Prino 1.4.0 is now available to download. Happy bargain hunting guys!

  • +3

No way I would pay $7.99 for this, but it is a decent app for free. Cheers OP

    • -1

these devs are dreaming, %99 percent of paid apps should be 1 dollar.

  • Is this like the app version of price hipster?

    • There’s an iOS app for piece hipster? I couldn’t find it in the store..?

    • +1

Very similar with some extra stores

      • +3

We have many similarities but Prino does have its uniqueness such as push notifications, same/similar products when viewing one, ability to share your finding/favourites… And there are more to come.

By the way, we did use PH as an inspiration. Well done and great work from Jazoom.

  • -1

The android version of the app have no rating, and not even number of downloads. I will avoid this.

    • +1

      Same for iOS store lol

    • +4

Well I don't think people pay $7.99 for pro version. If you check the free version. There are over 1000 downloads.

It is pretty young apps though

    • +6

By that logic nobody will download any app. Because they all had no ratings/downloads at one stage.

  • +5

I’m a bit wary of the permissions allowed for this on Android.

    Anyone know Is this normal?

    receive data from Internet
    view network connections
    full network access
    change your audio settings
    run at startup
    draw over other apps
    control vibration
    prevent device from sleeping

I don’t know how to check IOS permissions though

    • +1

It hasn’t asked for much on iOS. Only pop up was to use auth0.com when creating an account. It has access to mobile data and asked to send me notifications when I saved an item to my favourites.

    • +1

      run at startup

      Ahhhh yeah nahhhhhhh

    • +2

Probably because your are using an older version of Android. I'm on Android 10 and it asks for nothing.

    • You can deny the permissions in settings, it's only asking for Camera permission

    • +10

Vibration and camera access are used for scan barcode function. We don't do anything with run at startup, draw over other apps or prevent device from sleeping. We'll definitely look into it and make sure the app won't ask for those unnecessary permissions.

  • +1

Anyone know why it needs these permissions?

    Camera
    * take pictures and videos

    Other
    * change your audio settings
    * draw over other apps

    • +6

Camera is because it has a barcode scanner. Not sure about the others.

    • +2

Some app development frameworks (eg: expo for react native) need “Draw over the app” permission. It is just a way of simplifying app development.

    • +2

There's an Android link in the post description

  • +2

6 months history is too short. What I want to know most of the time is the lowest price of all time.

    • +1

Agreed, should be 2 years I guess, some of the best deals happen only once a year.

    • +5

100% agree. As the app is relatively new and we haven't collected a long history of the product price. We'll extend the price history period as we go.

By the way, the blue line at the bottom of the graph always indicates the lowest price of all time.

      • Great app Prino. Please add a feature so that you can click on the price chat for specific date/price. Eg. What pricehipster is doing

        • +1

It's an interesting suggestion as phone screen is quite small for all that. We'll think carefully about that.

          • @prino: You can see how it is done in xe.

            • +1

@tukanglistrik: Thank you. We’ll take a look at xe for reference.

        • +1

@MadMaxBargainRoad @tukanglistrik Just want to let you know that we are working on a more interactive price history graph. This will be available in the next release.

          • @prino: Awesome, cheers.

Side question what's the problem with Cole's? Are they not interested?

            • +1

@MadMaxBargainRoad: Sorry @MadMaxBargainRoad, I didn't notice your question. There're some technical difficulties preventing me from getting Coles product/pricing information reliably. As the app has more and more users, I should be able to contact Coles for official data down the track. Sorry for the that. I understand that many of us here are waiting for Coles to appear on Prino.

By the way, I am about to release Prino version 1.5.0 with lots of improvements including interactive price history graph and dark mode ;).

              • @prino: No worries mate. Thanks for all the insight. My wife and I have been using the app almost daily. Can't wait for the interactive chart :). All the best to the app and its future development.

                • +1

@MadMaxBargainRoad: Just want to let you know that Prino version 1.5 has been released. I really think you'll like it :).

  • There should be a master app or master website that price compares virtually all available Australian stores including amazon (but not eBay because they use price ranges that can misinform the true lowest price) in the way that price hipster does (and also live unlike price hipstef at times). Now that would get a lot of uses and downloads.

    • +1

Actually, ozbargain is at a good position to set that up. If ozb was an ambitious commercial company they would probably have rolled that out. But hey, many of us like ozb just because it isn't.

    • +1

You can sort of already do it by searching through ozbargains deals.

      • Not necessarily. Many deals don't get posted, simply because a particular item didn't get searched by someone on a particular website. The app would take care of that.

        • Hope that Prino's getting closer and closer to what you imagined :)

  • -1

Only two ratings in the App Store? what is that?

  • I misread as Piano pro, installed. Price bla bla… Uninstalled. Sigh… I am old…

  • +10

Hi guys. I'm glad that you guys like Prino and this free offer of Prino Pro. This freebie deal ends this Sunday.

Prino is a relatively new app: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/515014

When Prino was first released, it supported only 6 stores with ~100k products. After 5 months we now have more than 100 stores with ~1.5 million products.

Thank you for your continued support. Shoot me with your questions!

    • +5

No questions, but just want to say nice work!

  • +5

We noticed an increase of error rate around an hour ago which makes searching not responsive sometimes. Just want to let you know that it has been fixed.

    • +2

Well done op. Nice to see some engagement and enthusiasm.

  • +2

Nice app, like the layout, features, etc.
    Some feedback:

    • Have the ability to save searches - perhaps in the favourites menu?
    • The ability to add things to my favourites without having to sign in or register
    • +3

Thank you for your complement. We have noted your feedback. Regarding to save searches, we’ve done that in search screen (press on search icon at the top right corner). Is that what you had in mind?

      • +1

Oh yeah, I see it - it lists it in the recent search. Yes, that's what I had in mind

        Thanks!

        • +1

Great! Please drop us an email at [email protected] if you have any other suggestion. You could also do it from the app under More -> Support -> Contact Us.

          Cheers!

  • Trying this app out however i can't seem to favourite items. I click the heart but it disappeaers if i open something else.

    • +1

Sorry that you are having an issue using the app. Please drop us an email at [email protected]. We’re certain that we can help to resolve it.

    • +1

Hi Danzer. We believe that we have identified the issue and fixed it. Could you please give it a try after siging out and in again? Cheers.

      • +1

        Awesome works now! Thanks :)

        • +1

          Any time Danzer!

  • +1

No way to add a store? First item I searched shows offers $30 dearer than I can currently buy it.

    • Hi @DJM. You could raise a request to add new stores via More -> Support -> Contact Us. We'll try our best to add them in one by one.

  • +2

I like this app. What I would suggest is having the option to sort by % discount for all stores and for specific stores you filter instead of only having the option when you manually search a store

    • We’ll consider that Johnny. Currently the home/discover screen is for quick browsing of recent deals. How’s about we add an option of “All stores” from the search screen?

      • Sounds good to me :)

        • We are going to release a minor release of the app (1.3.1) on 27 Jun. This change will be included :).

        • Prino 1.4.0 is now available to download. Happy bargain hunting guys!

  • +1

Thanks OP for post and ++ to prino for being so responsive.

  • +1

I search for Smiggle and gave me a wide rangle or products from appliance to undergarment (bra bikini)

    • Prino supports fuzzy search (e.g. smasugn qeld tv). For this particular search "Smiggle" it could not find anything exact match, then fuzzy search kicks in. All the returned results include "single" which is close-enough to "Smiggle". Hope that explains the behaviour.

      • +1

Not sure if thats a wise decision, i dnt want to look for single. Synonym words maybe… Short for search isnt working properly? Just say not found, then suggest.

If i made something that it cant, ill just call it fuzzy methodology.

        • We'll definitely take that into consideration and improve over time. Thank you for your feedback!

  • can i filter the stores in my search or discover option ? I only want to look for electronics deals and not much on clothing..

    • Yes, you definitely can. Pressing on "Stores" button at the top left of the screen will allow you to scope down the app to just your selected stores. Cheers.

      • Thanks ! the button was little bit overlapping with your logo on my samsung s10…just a feedback… is there an option to filter even category. eg: electronics ?

        • Have you updated to Prino version 1.4.0? The issue with overlapping Logo has been fixed.

Regarding filter by categories, you can do it when searching in a particular store (press Seach icon on the top right corner, select a particular store, then you can filter by selecting category - top left under the search bar).

We are still working on global category filtering but it will be much trickier.

  • Hi guys,

This freebie deal is approaching the end. Thank you very much for all your support. I really appreciate all the honest, valuable and constructive feedback. Be rest assured that everything has been noted and will be considered carefully in the upcoming releases of the app.
