  • I would be really careful about getting a cheap mattress. You spend more than 25% of your time sleeping on your bed, you don't want a bad mattress that will make you even more tired when you wake up EVERY single day.

Go to the shops and actually try them is the best advice I can give you. Otherwise Ikea has cheap(est) bed and mattress.

    • I agree to cacbm as mattress is something that lasts a long time (10+ year for the last one I used) and you do spend a lot of time on it even when you are not sleeping (hmm, like mid-night coding for OzBargain with my laptop on the bed?)

For cheap'ish bed I think it depends on where about you are. I sometimes buy from Fantastic Furniture or Super Amart (when I lived in Queensland).

  • Thanks cacbm, good advice. My son (12) is moving from a single bed into a double or queen -gotta keep an eye on the pennies but I have always had expensive mattresses for my kids (Dunlopillo Latex), unfortunately the budget won't stretch to something similar in queen or double size.

Anyone know of any good deals going let me know so I can try in a shop and then perhaps buy.

  • HAVE YOU TRIED THE TRADING POST?? THEY USAULY HAVE ADDS FOR BUYING DIRECTLY FROM THE FACTORYS.

  • Thanks Cathy. I have managed to locate a really cheap bed frame $125 for a nice looking wood and wrought iron look bed. Still on the look out for a decent cheaply priced mattress though - I intend going into stores to try out and locate manufacturers from there. Then armed with what I want I'll contact them direct.

    Thanks for everyone's help here.

  • GOOD LUCK HOPE YOU GET WHAT YOU LOOKING FOR AND THE BEST PRICE POSSIBLE

  • Go latex. They might cost a fortune, but you will NEVER get out of bed again.
