[VIC] Moreton Bay Bugs $21.20 Per kg + Delivery (Free Delivery > $80) @ Melbourne Seafood Market

70

I was browsing on Facebook and noticed Melbourne Seafood Market had started having a Shellfish sale. Amongst the deals, the standout is Moreton Bay Bugs at $21.20 a kg.

I've bought from them a few times and can see they stuffed up on the last Tuna order, but I've personally never had any issues with ordering from them. (though I never thought of weighing the blocks for some reason but I now weigh everything).

They also have Yellowfin Tuna Sashimi blocks again for $31.30 for 1kg.

Not as cheap as last time, but easily cheaper than anywhere else I can find them. It looks like you can't buy more than 1kg now though (even though it still says buy more and save more)

not sure when it ends.

Just realised they have a page with all their Promos.

  • Do they post all over the country?

  • How many in a kilo

Last time I ordered they had in bracket (large). I had ordered 2kgs and had around 19 bugs. That was around 3-4 weeks ago.

  • Thawed them in their plastic bag last time and ended up with a huge pool of fishy water that dripped all over everything in the fridge. If you buy this make sure to throw it into a large container.
Also this isn't a reflection on the company but gosh there's hardly any meat.. Maybe about 2-3 bites per bug.

    • yeah, this creature is shell mostly so unless you're in need of calcium better buy the usual prawn

      • They are like a Lobster. I would say taste similar to a lobster as well.
You’ll get more bang for your buck with Prawns.

  • Any idea where I can buy Australian soft shell crab in Melbourne?

Most frozen ones I've seen are from Vietnam.

  • I ordered these before, they are comparatively small in size to my local seafood shop and frozen. Hardly has any meat in it.

their lobsters are good but not these bugs
