I bought two tops online from an Australian clothes retailer. Before I bought the top I messaged them on Facebook to confirm their returns policy. I still have this message. It stated as long as the item is returned unworn with all tags within 30 days I will get a refund
I wanted to return one top so I posted the top back as per their policy to get a refund (I paid for return shipping). The top was still sealed in the packaging.
Now that the item has been delivered they are saying they will only do a credit note! Even though I have emails from them before I sent the item saying they will do a monetary return if I post the top back. I paid with PayPal using my credit card.
Can I do a PayPal claim? Or a credit card charge back?
How long ago did you contact them regarding their returns policy
A LOT of retailers have changed their policies to not allow change of mind returns (which is within their rights to do so)
Check to see if they have an updated policy now and if so then take the credit note and get something else from them.
If you dispute with PayPal it will probably be found in the retailers favour as i have said in the past retailers have different arrangements with PP than the consumer does and findings almost always go the retailers way.
If you charge back on your credit card (which would be against PayPal not the retailer) you risk being banned from using PayPal again
