I do find the slimmer LiPo form factor ones more handy to use generally but haven't really thought about how that plays into the cost in the first place.
It's good for the price, form factor and convenience. This could almost fit in your wallet. Though it would only charge a large phone to about 50%. Good to keep in your bag, pocket, briefcase but not for camping and such.

I had two of these - one broke and they sent another one, which broke as well. In both cases that tiny integrated cable stopped working.
