FFALCON 40F1 TV remote mostly not working

The remote control for this TV is it not working at all sometimes, or only works intermittently at times. (Have tried replacing batteries)

My issue is, it seems incredibly difficult to find a replacement/universal remote that will work with this TV. There is one on eBay, but I'm not too happy that replacement remotes for this TV seem so rare.

Also no physical buttons on the TV? Since when did TV's stop having these?

Any advice on what I could do? Is it worth just getting a well known branded TV to avoid this issue in future?

  • Logitech Harmony remote should work or one of those universal ones.

Are you sure the remote control is the problem? Point it at a mobile phone with the camera on, see if the IR LED is lighting up…

Some energy saver light bulbs (CFLs) emit light in the infra-red spectrum that confuses the receiver in TVs and other devices.

    • It has been working fine for a few days, but just again tonight the remote appeared to not be working. I pointed it at my mobile phone camera and the IR light is working. Maybe it wasn't a remote issue all along.

I unplugged a few devices that are in the vicinity. Nothing worked initially, but after unplugging almost everything the receiver on the tv started to work again.

Could something be interfering with the remote signal? Here's what I have in and around the tv.

-Ps4 console directly under the tv
-Ps4 controller sits under the tv
      -Chromecast connected to tv
-Wifi range extender on a nearby PowerPoint
      -Aerial plugged in

Nothing is physically blocking the remote receiver light on the tv.

      • Nothing is physically blocking the remote receiver light on the tv.

Nothing that you can see. You want to check for light sources, like maybe a reflection off something blinding the receiver.

  • See of you can test with a tcl remote. They are same company

  • I'm starting to think the receiver on the TV may be faulty?

I unplugged all devices that were on the same power board. Still didn't work. There are definitely no other sources which would be blocking the IR signals in the room.

It wasn't working at all last night, then I wake up this morning and it is suddenly working again.

Any ideas on what issue this could be?

  • Most straightforward thing to do is take it into the JB/TGG store you purchased it from, have them test it with your remote, then one of their remotes. Test your remote on their TV if you really want to be thorough.

This will give you the best chance of determining where the fault is.

If the remote is the issue contact Ffalcon/TCL and buy a new remote (assuming the TV isn’t under warranty/you don’t want to argue ACL).
