  • Which has the superior features? This versus the previous posted deal of the Yamaha HTR 4072 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/543825

    • +1

      4072

little point buying this one new now, there will be plenty much cheaper secondhand available similarly specced etc

    • +1

Would say the HTR 4072 has more features,

In particular the more powerful speakers (80 vs 70 watt).

Ability to use wireless surround speakers and multicast

And possible Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice control compatibility* (*Availability varies by region).

The main benefits for the RXV are the cheaper price($56) and the RXV HTR power amplifier difference, which tbh I have no idea if most people could tell the difference.

  • no network connectivity is a real bummer

  • A touch dated compared to its sequel the 485

485 is not a newer version of 385. Both belong to the '85 series which is the current product release.

    • True. Perhaps "A bit basic in features compared to the next model in the series"?

  • Hoping someone reading this thread can suggest a good preamp processor with atmos.

I’ve got an old Marantz preamp that doesn’t have HDMI, but it still kills it.

    • no one really can unless they're super expert and have money

preamp processors are super high end

      eg. https://www.crutchfield.com/g_357450/Surround-Sound-Preamp-P…

also like receivers they get obsolete very quickly

i have a very high end multichannel power amp that would match nice to a preamp but its just too expensive

  • Thanks. I’m due for an upgrade. I was keeping an eye on the refurbs here and this is even cheaper.

  • Any advice on this one guys? When I click on the “go to deal” link the price is $579

    • Amazon must have run out of the receiver or finished the sale. $579 is for a 3rd party receiver, not amazon sold.

Amazon may or may not resume selling at $299 but don't hold your breath.
