fine you win i'll take the store credit, jeez
Hey
I've put an order on an online website - right away I regret and noticed I chose the wrong items, I called , they answered-
I let them know I'd like to cancel my order as I've made a mistake with my choice of items ->
They asked me to send an email ->
I have, got an automatic response that at the end of it says "sorry we can't cancel orders due to change of mind at this time of COVID due to load on packing team" - I just, a minute ago put the order, just now , a minute ago. Just now. What packing team? you estimated dispatch in 5 days. ->
I call again ->
Someone from Aftersales answers, this time hears me out and puts me on hold for a few minutes and comes back with bitter news;
While we're able to cancel the order, we won't give you your money back , only store credit. I was in awe.
Why? Have I wronged anyone? You're not losing anything I just wanted to amend my order at my own will , why is my $100 held hostage because they feel like it?
The store representative says that in their TOS it says they will not provide a refund:
Change of Mind Returns & Cancellations
We can accept returns and order cancellations for incorrect choices or change of mind, for a store credit. We do not provide refunds for change of mind returns or order cancellations.
If you would like to arrange a return, please email us at ******** with your order number, and the items you wish to return, and we will issue you with a Return Authority Number.
A Return Authority Number must be received from Australian Wholesale Oils prior to returning any products. No credits will be issued without a Return Authority Number.
Product(s) must be returned in their original packaging and must be unopened, unused and undamaged.
Customers are liable for return postage charges
What are my rights?
I placed the order through PayPal and my first thing to do after the conversation is to open a dispute infront of the seller - hoping it'll get my point across, if not , escalate it.
What are my rights? tips?
They are within their rights to refuse to refund
A lot of retailers do this, they usually use words like "please choose carefully" etc
Paypal will find on the retailers behalf, they have different agreements in place with retailers than they do for the general public (have dealt with them as a retailer before)
AND.. if you do a charge back on your credit card (which in this case would be against PayPal) you risk being banned by PayPal
Take the credit and order the correct item you need
