[PC] Free (was $7.50 AUD) - Hammerfight - Steam

800

Hammerfight just went free to play.

It used to cost money ($7.50 AUD) but now went free to play, very likely to promote the dev's new game.

From the website:

Hammerfight is about 2D battles of flying machines equipped with various slashing, piercing and blunt weaponry.A unique combat system is based on realistic physics simulation, and it ties the movements of the rider to the movements of your mouse. As you wave the mouse, your rider swings his warhammer, smashing the foe into the wall!
This creates an unequaled feel of the real strike, a feel of the mass of the weapon in your hands. Simulated physics and direct mouse control creates a huge variety of possible battle techniques and an unlimited field for perfecting one's fighting skill.

  • Intuitive mouse control
  • Realistic physics, breakable objects
  • Great storyline
  • High quality art
  • More that 50 weapons
  • 3 additional modes, up to 4 players

Enjoy!

One of my favourite games. Took me ages to figure out that it gets much less awkward to play if you set the "Mouse DPI" in the options to a really low value. This way you get a lot more force out of smaller mouse movements, and don't need to frantically wave your mouse all over your desk.

  • Locked up my mouse and it did not respond to keyboard. Had to get to task manager to kill it.

  • Just to confirm, free to play isnt free to own yeah? I see that it adds a game to your library but ive read that once its removed from free to play you cant play it anymore.

    • It's yours to keep forever.

    • This is free to play forever, not a temporary free to play weekend.

      • Ah cool. Thanks guys. Is that the case with other free to plays or just certain titles?

  • Enjoy this one with a stiff Vodka, comrades. Swing those hammers!

Played this one around release before they changed the name: I think it desperately needs a remaster because it's an absolute blast to bash through the campaign.
The engine is also up on github and is totally open source.

  • Great game, I remember playing an earlier version of this years ago.
