Dual Monitor Recommendations (144hz & 60hz)

Hey everyone

I'm looking to spice up my gaming set up by looking for some dual monitors, I was told that there's no point of getting two expensive monitors when I'm only going to be using 1 for primarily gaming whilst the other to browse the net. Hence I'm looking for a 144hz, 24-26inch 1440p primary monitor along with a 60hz 24-26 inch 1080p monitor. I would like the monitors to look as similar as possible, so when combine the bezels will flow nicely. Budget for the 144hz is 500 and the 60hz is 200.

I'm also looking for a new desk (1.5 - 2m) to set up the monitors. Been looking at ikea and juggling between the Linnmon or getting the Karlby and making the desk myself (obviously more exy but looks better).

Cheers

  • Not sure if it's still a thing but I recall issues with dual monitors and different refresh rates. Was a few years ago so probably resolved. Have you researched this? I think the solution at the time was to make the 144hz monitor 120hz so it synced better with the 60hz.

Sorry can't help with similar matching monitors though.

    • I'm looking at the AOC 24G2 & 24GE5 - any thoughts on this combo?

  • 1080p or 1440p?

    • 1440p but also happy with 1080p

  • Ikea Karlby is just a manufactured wooden kitchen bench top. Bunnings sells something similar for $100. There are probably a lot of other options from smaller suppliers if you shop around

    • Yea, I had a look at bunnings and most stuff start at like $150 per meter for decent looking ones

  • I game mostly with a single monitor. The secondary gets used primarily for chat, music control, light web browsing.

In my setup, I went with a larger primary screen that is facing me front & center. The secondary monitor was my previous primary, and it has been mounted to the side (horizontally) of my main monitor. I didn't find this particularly comfortable for the times I had to look at my secondary for extended periods of time. It is presently mounted on top of my primary monitor. I use two different monitor arms to achieve this (due to weight restrictions of the monitor arm). For me, I found looking up to be more comfortable than looking left/right for extended periods of time.
