Solar EOFY deal $2,799

Through a neighbour who's recently had panels installed I've been offered a deal.

Keen on getting solar installed asap as I've just installed ducted A/C and my mrs uses it almost constantly

See the deal below.

$2,799
20 Seraphim panels 330w SRP-330-BMB

5kw growatt inverter, 1 phase 2 MPPT Grid connect GROWATT 5000MTL-S

15 year warranty on panels

10 year warranty on inverter

25 year performance warranty

I have no idea about solar, is this s decent deal? Apart from price/warranty what else needs to be considered?

I'm guessing warranties are useless when companies go bust and with so many solar companies around I'm guessing that's likely…

Never heard of the brand. You might want to do some research but some of the most installed are Jinko and Trina for budget installs. Made in China

5kw growatt inverter, 1 phase 2 MPPT Grid connect GROWATT 5000MTL-S

It is okay. Trustworthy made in China brand.

    10 year warranty on inverter

Comes from manufacturer. You might want to research whether they include cost of install of replacement. Also you might be a refurbished one later down the track.

    25 year performance warranty

This is the panels, not inverter. Read the detailed T&Cs which would be along lines of 80% of original output if you can prove it!

    $2,799

Expect $800 - $1000 per Kw (you got 6.6kw) installed. I assume that price is include some rebates.

I know next to nothing besides my DIY solar system…My suggestion would be to go for higher wattage panels, especially if you have any shade around… you've only got so much space on your roof might as well make the most of it….. since panels are generally the longest lasting parts of a system and quite cheap these days. Even fewer panels at a higher wattage would be better since there would be less impendance.

I'll be honest it's cheap and the inverter is good enough, the panels aren't great but shouldn't pose much of a problem.

The real problems would be with installation quality, electric conduit, panel mounting, warranty, etc.

As a point of reference I would request 3 quotes from solar quotes and make sure the installers come out to give you a quote.

You can expect $5000 - $7000 price for a 6.6kw system with qcells/fronius or components or similar high quality.

You will be paying double upfront but solar payback is quite good so over the long run not too much difference and you'll have a much nicer experience.

What part of the Oz are you in? Vic Solar have rebates & interest free loan. I jusy got 30 x 330w Serapphim panels installed they are a Tier 1 which most are. Unless you go to something like LG then most are similiar.
I went with the Fornius inverter which is Austrian made and is one of the best residential inverters. Google Solar Quotes for more info

    • How many kWh (size) is this system and can I ask how much it cost before rebates bit after STCs

      • 9.9KW Solar PV System- 8.2kW Fronius Primo inverter / 30 x 330W Seraphim Blade solar panels $4,470

  • Installer reliability is the most important thing. Will they do a good job and will they still be around in a few years if issues develop.
