Booked tickets to Europe with Emirates for flights Oct 2020 - booking made Feb 2020. Looking to cancel or at least reschedule and cant decide on the best option. Of course I purchased the cheapest ticket so no real option for a full refund unless they cancel the flights themselves. As our flights are for October I suspect that there could be travel by this time so there is no guarantee they will cancel - I just don't think I want to risk it if that's an option.
There are 2 choices presented here - Keep your Ticket or Travel voucher.
Keep your ticket
Pro
* The fare amount you paid for your original booking will be accepted for any flight to the same destination/region at any time with no fees during this period. So it looks like I wont be hit with any price increases if I use this option?
* Best option if fares go up
Con
* only valid for 24 months from original booking - so valid to Feb 2022. Looks like tickets will need to be used by that time
* limited travel to same region (europe only) but this is where I would like to travel if safe
Travel Voucher
Pros
* valid for 1 year from the voucher date which can be extended to a 2nd year. so valid until say June 2022 - but I could book flights in June 2022 for flights up to early 2023.
* voucher includes any services paid for - so it will include the $420 I paid for extra legroom seats
* can be used for anyone (not just me) and allows multiple transactions.
* can be used for any destination or Emirates service.
* refund of unused amount on expiry
Con
*if prices increase - I will need to pay more for my flight to rebook to the same destination
What is the best OzBargain choice??
Wait for now. Family member cancelled their domestic flights for later this year but now regrets it.
