How do you redeem this and apply it to the purchase? Thanks

  • If it is your first mechanical keyboard then I think it is the good choice. If you already own some other before then I dont think so

  • I have a few of these, they're not quiet by any means, the switches ping every time you press them and the body seems to amplify it depending on which key you press.

  • I’ve got a brown switch model, honestly for the money it’s a good buy!

  • Do mechanical switches usually fail mechanically or electrically?

  • Great quality product, love Kogan stuff!

  • I love my RGB Kogan with blue switches - I actually prefer it to my $200 brown switch Ducky keyboard for work / productivity tasks. Can't comment on the quality of this new model but the old (full RGB) model is solid gold.

probably better than your normal dell office keyboard but I would avoid anyway…these fails like hell apparently, friend got two and they are not reliable

  • Had to replace mine after a few months but the replacement has held up well. Very nice for $39

  • Is it worth paying $9 for extended warranty?

    • Personally, I wouldn't pay roughly 1/3rd of the price for a warranty.
At this price, i'd take my chances and hope that any problems show up in the first year. Also, note that Kogan do not specify the switch type, or how many key presses the switches are rated for. I would't consider this a long term item, unlike other mechanical keyboards.

Having said that there are numerous reports of issues with the keyboards each time they are posted. A friend has a board that started having intermittent issues with a key after about 2 years. Personally, the Australian Consumer Law/reasonable consumer line on them with an item that broke just outside of warranty was more trouble than it was worth.

  • I have used Kogan products for years now. …….which is why i love the first two sentences of this deal description :')

  • Is this keyboard actually any good?

    Especially for gaming and work

    • this model hasn't been released before but other past keyboards are debatable. Depends if you have experience with mechanical keyboards really.

Can the LEDs be disabled on these?

    • +1

Yes, sort of. There is a mode where all LEDs are off, but CAPS LOCK, SCROLL LOCK and on fulkl size keyboards NUM LOCK, will still light up if those keys are in the "lock" state.

You can also program your own mode, so you could have a configuration where only the space bar is on and all other keys are off.

      • Are u talking about the same kogan mechanical keyboard (this is newly released) or the older one, i can't find it anywhere in the manual, about programming a mode.

If anyone is interested. Keyboard is showing as available. And ships in next 1 to 2 days.

My order was still showing shipping 21 July. But I contacted them last night and they shipped it today.

So much for shipping on 21 July. Mine just arrived!

I don't have experience with any other mechanical keyboards, but been very happy with the one I bought last time they were on special, hence buying another one to try a different color

  • Got mine today. I like the way the keys are above the keyboard and not in a hole. It makes it much easier to clean. The space bar doesn't have the usual metal bar which can be hard to put back if it falls off.

Brought the blue one. It has the same feel as my other cherry blue keyboard, can't tell the difference.

The RGB LED's brightness + speed + modes can be changed. Each row is the same color and the whole row turns off or on not individual keys. The RGB modes are… off, on, fade bright to dark, top to bottom, bottom to top, middle to outer, outer to middle, alternative lines, highlight row on key press, fade alternate rows.

  • Got My keyboard today with Brown Switches, quite good especially for the price. There is slight wobble in the keys but not anymore than my red dragon keyboard the space bar is the only key which can wobble quite a bit however i haven't found it to be a problem when actually typing.

Can't really compare the switches to my Red Dragon K555 as they were blue, Overall great so far :)

Got mine yesterday… Interesting… For $29 + delivery I can't really complain, but it wouldn't take much to make this keyboard 'better'. I'll probably use it as a spare when needing to plug into a raspberry pi because I've done something wrong and can't SSH into it. No point sending it back as it would cost too much to post.

If you're reading this Mr Kogan :

Make a version with just white backlighting - the colours on this keyboard are somewhat ghoulish (and very highlighterish) and only the function keys in white look good compared to the other colours. Do not call it RGB when there is nothing really RGB about it when the LED lights are single element emitters (from what I can tell).

While most of us don't look at keyboards when typing, the font face is aesthetically unpleasing to the eye. Use a nice classic font like Helvetica - letters should be easy to read and not require much brain work to figure out what the character is trying to represent. the 6 looks like a G, the B looks like an 8, 9 looks like little g, 5 looks like an S —- you get the idea.

The caps, num and scroll led's are too low and the indicator hole is too small - you can only see them when looking at the keyboard from above, if you look at normal angle you can't actually see the indicator to tell if caps/num/scroll is on/off.

Do these three things and I feel you will appeal to a wider audience eager to use mechanical keyboards with 000something that strikes a better balance between form and function at an affordable price.

In retrospect I think I would be more happy if I had gone the full rgb one and paid the little bit extra. Maybe next pay day…
