Anyone seen any deals on a good non-plastic camping fridge? I’ve been told both Engel and Bushman are good quality but have never owned one. They all seem quite expensive so any discount would help.
Thanks!

Ok, have signed up with BCF now. Will be on the lookout, thanks!
I would absolutely love an Engel, I have seen some that look like they have been thrown off a cliff, then into in a pile of dirt and then dragged behind a car and they still work. I'm exaggerating obviously but you get the gist. At the time of purchasing my own fridge I couldn't afford an Engel and they rarely go on sale if they do it is an insignificant amount anyway. I ended up going for a Waeco CF40 from Anaconda and stacked some deals and got this fridge with a cover somewhere in the $400 range. After 3 to 4 years of heavy use it is still working fine, but it is one of those poly plastic fridges. The only negative about it is the temperature throughout the fridge is not consistent, so to keep everything at the top refrigerated well, the things at the bottom freeze - but for multi week trips this works absolutely perfectly for me because I put meat at the bottom and other items at the top, likewise day to day the fridge does not get filled up to the brim so the temperature is consistent throughout then.
Thanks. I may end up getting a plastic one if the good Engel never goes on sale.
I have a 40L engel and it works well but its a heavy fridge. Full of food I can just lift it on my own and need help putting it into the car anything bigger 60L ect you'd need a two person lift. A friend of mine bought the adventure kings fridge and is very happy https://au.adventurekings.com/camping-and-outdoor/fridges-co… and at $639 delivered against an engel thats $1000 plus. Yes its plastic vers metal that the engel is but it makes it a lot lighter. If I was to buy another fridge id go for one like that
Thanks. I didn’t realise there was so much of a difference I weight. I’d definitely prefer a lighter one.
Maybe an Evakool Koolmate 55litre from Supercheapauto (metal cabinet) only $399

Wow, thanks, that’s surprisingly cheap! Is there a catch or is it a special price?
AFAIK it's their regular price.
Obviously it won't be as good as Waco etc. but it'll be OK.
Having a camping fridge is great but how are you running it?
Will it be in a 4WD? If yes do you have the correct second battery type, charging system and cable size wired up?
Your start battery is not designed to run a fridge.
You can't run it through a cigarette lighter socket. Think blown fuses. Melted wires and possible fire.
I have a Yeti 400 Lead-Acid battery (https://www.goalzero.com.au/shop/portable-power-stations/yet…). It’s over 4 years old now but still holding a charge ok.
Rarely discounted because they are so good, ie Apple's pricing model.
Hang out for EOFY deals if you can, sign up for BCF/Tentworld newsletters etc and you might bet lucky!
