Restaurant Quality Long Brown Rice, Which Brand to Buy?

Hi,

I intend to start cooking long brown rice at home. I wonder which brand good restaurants use to yield evenly cooked and perfectly fluffy brown rice, with great texture, flavour and aroma. I don't mind the price tag as long as it's the same rice that good restaurants use.

I don't suppose they use brands which are sold in Woolies/Coles?

P.S
I realise that restaurant's chef plays a major factor in the end result, which is why I also intend to buy a decent rice cooker e.g. Tiger/Cuckoo etc.

Thanks,

Lizzy

      Brown rice matters

  • Do you mean red or brown basmathi ?
There are variety of red and brown rice which are not avaialble in typical supermarkets.
You can always check in South Asian supermarkets specially for red and brown rice and buy a suitable type for you.

  • We use this to make fried rice and the kids love it. It has a nutty flavour.

I think it's less the rice itself and more on the rice cooker. Grab a decent rice cooker and you should have nice rice each time. Just fluff the rice with a fork while it's still hot to stop it clumping into a solid mass when it cools.

  • All of those posh restaurants use the Aldi stuff.
