Vittoria Chocochino Dark and Original Half Price at Woolworths $2.45

1130

This was a popular deal in the past. Half price again now at Woolworths. Perfect for the cold weather.

Found the original to be too sweet, much prefer the dark chocolate variety.

    63.2% sugar 👀

    • +3

Popular Cadbury Drinking Chocolate is 77.1% sugar

But who eats it straight from the container??
It doesn't taste good that way!

This is 13.3g per 200-250ml serve
Much less sugar than Coke & who drinks just 1 cup of Coke?

      An indulgence☕
I drink a maximum of 1 per day over winter.
Enjoyable adding a shot of coffee to a mug of this in the morning!
      Great sprinkled over coffees,
      desserts, etc.

Except for the few sugar free hot chocolates using artificial sweeteners (never liked the taste), the first ingredient is usually sugar

      • WTF?

Who doesn't eat this straight from the container?

        Weirdo.

        :D

        • +1

You've eaten this straight from the container??
The lid is designed to make that difficult😉

Unlike Milo - it's far too sweet with strong added flavours (which make it a tasty hot chocolate drink)!

          I'd much rather drink it!

          • +7

            @INFIDEL: I just did that.
Popped lid off, big spoonful, straight into mouth…

…coughed a chocolate dust cloud throughout the kitchen.
            I wouldn't recommend it.

Did it twice just to prove it to myself

            • @Spending2Much: I hate cleaning up after that cloud of powder.
              I never learn!

Much tastier (& safer) as a drink!

            • -3

              @Spending2Much: straight into mouth

Dude, why dont you use a rolled $20 note?

          • @INFIDEL: You sound like you're high on sugar.

I cut out sugar all this year, now I want to buy hot chocolate. I need to stop coming to Ozbargain at 3am…

            • @Freezies: There are sugar alternative hot chocolates. After being off sugar - you'll find most hot chocolates (including those) far too sweet!

Try a good cocoa or better - cacao powder & see if you want any sweetening. No reason to miss the enjoyment!

This is my 1 sweet treat left, limited to 1 per day. (No ice cream, soft drink, chocolate or other sweets…)
I take the sweetness experience down a notch by adding a shot of coffee to a mug of this hot chocolate. It's a very enjoyable treat.

I've tried many hot chocolate products over 10 years - this is my favourite. Depends on your tastes.

              • @INFIDEL: I've had cacao before but I just really had a sudden craving for hot chocolate.

I just ended up buying one dark and one original. Under $5 for both so no biggie… unless I get hooked.

I love this stuff but wanted to cut out sugar. Now I drink cacao powder first dissolves in boiling water then I add milk and microwave it. No sugar and tastes great! Gotta stir as you drink though or it settles.

        • +2

Yes - a good alternative. I find a lot of sludge at the bottom of the mug. Some mixes contain a lot of sugar!

          • +1

@INFIDEL: I did too initially!! If you stir as you drink you won't have that. Even better, I use a metal straw and stir with that whilst drinking.

            • @Boioioioi: I wasn't complaining - just need to add a bit more powder & then spoon up the excess at the end😊

        • Sugar is added to the cocoa as it is bitter, to make it palatable to most.

Ordered a cacao "hot chocolate" drink powder from Amazon - contained 69% sugar!!

Using cocoa or cacao powder is better than the mixes like this if concerned about the sugar content.

      • +1

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy cocoa powder and mix sugar into it? Just wondering what's missing by doing that.

    • Crazy!

    • Speaking of sugar, I saw Coles generic "crunchy" Nutella for half price, reduced to clear. Someone may be interested.

Nestle Plaistowe Dutch Premium Cocoa (100% cocoa) and 1-2 tspns sugar is pretty nice, healthier too - https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/723948?ist…

      • +1

Totally a different taste. Also enjoyable.

  • Stocked up recently when price dropped to $4 & had a 4000 bonus points for $50 Woolies shop that otherwise wouldn't be used.
So about same price as waiting for this annual winter (June & August) sale.

Paid with points from previous 4000pt offer & discounted egift card.

Love this hot choc in Original!

  • DAMN was just at Woolies about an hour ago and missed this!

  • Lazy man's cocoa..

    • The "Adult Italian style" taste is very different to a hot cocoa & other hot chocolates.
Hot Cocoa is a different drink & usually much cheaper to make!
      I drink both.

    • +1

      Elaborate?

      • +1

It takes a bit more effort to make a tasty drink from cocoa powder.

Hot Chocolate is generally made with cocoa.
The ingredients in this hot choc: Sugar, Cocoa Powder (35%), Milk Solids, Flavour, Salt

It's those added flavours that set this apart from other hot chocolates & a simple hot cocoa.

        I certainly love this.
But nothing wrong with a lovely hot cocoa.

Why do they make the lid so annoying.

    Shaker side is slow

Other side is too small ( can barely fit a tea spoon ).

If you want people to buy your product, make it easy to use/consume. It's not hard.

    • +2

I just remove the lid (using fingernails) & pop it back on. Then easy to remove. Popped a new lid tonight👍

Been doing that for years of drinking this. I rarely use the shaker

    • +2

The shaker side is made for dusting cappuccinos.

  • i drink the dark,mmmmmm delicious

Did you people realize that Woolworth's every week have on average between 550 & 800 HALF price specials. This week there are 710 half price items! I always start with the half price specials when I do a weekly click & collect order!

    • same as coles does

  • The white version of this is the best hot chocolate you can buy, dont @ me!

  • +1

It's a good topper for your cappuccino, just bought 4 for myself

  • +1

I use this on top of my coffee for that at home 'café' experience.

  • I use to buy the dark chocolate one all the time. Did you notice they must have changed the recipe. I took one back cause I thought it had gone off. The replacement had the same weird smell (different batch number).

  • About 65% sugar. Yum!
