  • was this a price error?

    • Actually, surprisingly it wasn't. It went out of stock as soon as I posted… July 11th is when stock is received by Amazon :(

  • That is very cheap.
I do hear that Intel is working on a new processor so they may be clearing the way.

They literally just launched these. The issue is that they're totally noncompetitive against AMD for value without delivering significant performance benefits in most workloads, and use huge amounts of power.

But yes, they'll be replaced late Q4 or early Q1 2021, but even that will likely remain noncompetitive with AMD.

  • $600+ for an 8 core is cheap? AMD has 8 cores under $500 regularly.

Cheap is relative. This is 10% faster than a 3800X and (at this price) quite a bit cheaper.

core count is the only thing that matters you heard it here first folks

      • If you're buying 8 cores, then yes, the number of cores matters. If it didn't, you'd buy a 6 core for half the price.

        • I didn't say it didn't matter, I said you implied it was the only thing that mattered.

10700K outperforms all current AMD CPUs in gaming.

          • @mackdiddy: AMD outperforms Intel in just about everything else.

            • +1

@Nukkels: Sure, but "$600+ for an 8 core is cheap? AMD has 8 cores under $500 regularly." oversimplifies the performance difference between the 10700K and any AMD CPU. If someone wants max performance for work then AMD knocks Intel out of the park, sure. But if someone wants max gaming performance, a cheaper AMD 8-core isn't going to give equal performance.
