Suggestions for a Prebuilt PC/Laptop for Blender Animation, Video Editing and Coding - Budget $1400

I’m looking for a prebuilt budget PC or laptop for Blender animation, rendering, video editing and coding. I’ve been searching around for gaming desktops but I’m really confused on what to get. This’ll be my first desktop. My budget is $1400-$1500. Anyways, all responses are greatly appreciated, thank you for your time!

Edit: Thank you everyone. I decided to spend a bit extra and bought https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/desktops-and-all-in-ones/legion….

Not going to get anything beefy for that budget. It's very easy to build your own but if you really don't want to then check out techfast.com.au (provided you can wait a month or so for delivery).

    • Oh, I see.. Thank you! I’m a bit worried about the poor communication in the responses from the tech fast listings regarding deliveries, so I might consider building a pc then. Do you know what parts you’d recommend for this kind of budget and purpose?

That's really a 'how long is a piece of string' question really. Understand your apprehension with them, I wouldn't personally order from there either.

It'll be worth reading some reviews on recent builds and getting an idea on specs/budget. Use http://au.pcpartpicker.com to build a shopping list and pop back for suggestions/advice.

  • Lol your gpu alone will be several hundred more than that.

  • This Dell g5 has been on sale a couple of times recently. Might do you, although a bit above budget. Might need some extra RAM too, but can always upgrade later.

Asus A15 Tuf Notebook has the specs at a good price point, just be sure to hook it up to an external monitor for decent colour reproduction.

  • I'd stick with a desktop for that kind of budget and uses.

I think it really comes down to how serious you are about blender and video editing.

From what I understand blender relies pretty heavily on GPU whereas as video editing/encoding is more CPU intensive.

Firstly, I don't think you will get good bang for buck GPU performance in a laptop. So probably best to go desktop.

You probably would be fine with 3600/3600x/3700x CPU depending on what price you can get it. You should have at least 16gb ram (but 32gb) if you can squeee it in. Then spend the rest on getting the best GPU you can afford with your budget if you are serious about blender/animation.

I also would look at techfast models. They are great value (hard to beat) although most only have 16gb ram.

RE: Building your own. - my opinion is that unless you want to learn/ enjoy doing it isn't really worth doing just to save money. Having said that I think it is easy to learn and fun so would recommend giving it a go.
