    that sucks

There used to be a kodi app that you could use but looks to have been shutdown due to legal issues.

Yes errr shut eer down, oooo look flying pink elephant in a Tutu!

The first rule of kodi plugins is…..

AFL and NRL Kodi apps are still alive and well. Whirlpool forums will help.

        • Hi sween, do the Kodi apps still only stream 720p?

          • @Duplicity: Yep. Telstra is always only 720p. If you want 1080p then Kayo might go back to 1080p once Covid is over.

          • @Duplicity: The Kodi apps are simply a different UI for grabbing the same URL streams.

      • Still works fine on the Voda TV ;)

    • +1

Yeap I'd rather pay or if TA get the free Kayo deal from Beteasy for a few mths .

    • It's fair enough

    • I use Smart View to mirror from a Samsung phone to a Samsung TV.

  • Does Chromecast work with the NRL app to transfer from your mobile to a TV?

A lot of people got this plan for $1.25 per month for 12 months recently at this deal.

    • +2

Legally, no. Easily, no. NRL and AFL app actively block screen mirroring/sharing capabilities and block loop holes when discovered and force you to update their apps if you want to use them.

Kayo and Foxtel Go are the only legal ways of doing it.

if you have an android, just cast the entire screen to the tv and have the app in full screen on your phone.

      works fine

    • +2

No but you can open the app on a laptop and connect to your TV with a HDMI cable.

I know it's a bit of work, but it gets the job done.

      • Thanks, I think that's the best option as I don't have a Chromecast. I have downloaded BlueStacks and got the NRL app working on my laptop now. Haven't tried HDMI to my TV yet but it should work.

This has always been a thing for Telstra customers? I've been watching AFL for free on my phone for the last 4 years.

  • +2

Yes it's been free for years, only reason I'm still with Telstra. But it's true, can only seem to watch on my phone and can't cast it to the TV :(
But at least I can enjoy my footy without the wife nagging. Also good when you get dragged out on the weekend. You can duck off and watch some sneaky sport

    • only reason I'm still with Telstra

The only reason I've got a sim on the $10 staff plan.

  • If you have an android, just cast the entire screen to the tv and have the app in full screen on your phone, turn on do not disturb to silence the notifications.

  • So what’s the cheapest Telstra or Boost plan to make the most of this deal?

    • +1

I'm on the Boost $150 for 12 months prepaid that gets a regular mention here. I'm a bit annoyed that I couldn't get it for $135 when it was time to recharge, but it's still only $12.50 pm.

      • That’s cheap

      • BDP normally has it for $135 when in stock from time to time.

  • I've always hooked my Notes 4, 8 & 9 with USB to HDMI out cable too my 1080p TV, quality is not as good as FTA but I don't complain when it's free and unmetered data from any of my Telstra SIMS, trick for it too work,… first connect HDMI to TV & USB cable too my Note mobile (the app will state this feature isn't avaiable), then disconnect USB cable end then reconnect USB cable end and she's all good to go, currently doing this on my Note 9

  • Ok I'm sure but try yourself to check,.. you can register for free 12 months subscription ($99.99 yearly LIVE PASS) for the Telstra AFL app and the other Telstra sporting apps by hooking up too a Telstra WiFi connection with your mobile, either a family or friends Telstra home broadband I think even jumping onto a Telstra Air WiFi hotspot, anyone can confirm this do post here as it was over couple of years when I tried it, also includes a boost mobile WiFi hotspot from a family and friends mobile

Never tried this,.. for Australian overseas to use the Australian official AFL app (Not the more expensive overseas Telstra subscriptions/app) as there are Android mobile apps that can mock your GPS Location through Android developers options and of course teamed up with a VPN app
