Versus: May the best team win! Rack up points and trade up for superior weapons in Arcade, a frenetic playlist built for jump-in, over-the-top fun. With ten other game types plus new and classic maps, Versus rewards every competitive style, from casual to pro.

Horde: Can you and four friends endure waves of ever-stronger enemies and bosses? Survive using new hero abilities, building defenses, collecting power, leveling up your skills and working as a team. Map Builder: Create custom Escape hive maps and experiences to share with and challenge your friends.

• Tours of Duty: Rank up from new recruit to four-star general in Gears Tours of Duty. Take on new and exciting challenges, earn awesome rewards, and show off your loot.
• Boot Camp: New to Gears or just a little rusty? Bootcamp is a fun way to learn the ropes, from the basics to advanced combat techniques.

Better off paying for a GamePass subscription and having it included; unless you think you’ll be playing it for more than a year.

  • $34 for a physical copy for Xbox One at Harvey Norman.

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/gears-of-war-5-xbox-one.html

Same price at Amazon but only 5 copies left.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Microsoft-Gears-5-Xbox-One/dp/B07T…

    • Yep. Paying $50 for Gears 5 standard edition is not a good deal at all. Actually you can even buy Gears 5 Ultimate XB1 from CDKeys.com for $44.39 which is obviously over $5 less than what MS wants for just the standard edition.

You're not comparing the same thing. A "play anywhere" version can be played on both XB1 and PC, so a better deal (especially if you mainly want to play on a PC).

    Bad deal.

$36.99 from here and is also digital download.

    https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/games/gears-5-xbox-one-cd-k…

Heck even the Ultimate Edition from CDKeys.com is cheaper then what Microsoft wants for the base game alone.

    https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/games/gears-5-ultimate-edit…

So how did this deal thread get 4 positive votes?. It's not really a good deal.

    • CDkeys sells dodgy and risky keys. They can be revoked due to coming from a region different than yours and it has been done before. Plus it is against T&Cs.
Other people go one step further and get it completely free which of course is not legal.

      • No they don't. I've never had a problem with buying game keys from CDKeys.com they are fine. These are not keys from Russia or some where like that.

        • just because you did not have an issue does not mean they are legitimate and not risky. You have been lucky then.
Reddit and GG list the risks of all unauthorised key stores.
There is a reason Reddit (even Reddit!) does not allow deals from them and ITAD does not list them as store for price comparison.

          • @Lysander: Well you see these keys aren't from a different region. They are global keys and can be activated any where in the world without a VPN. If the game publisher didn't wish it to be so they would have locked it down. They would be exactly the same keys you can buy over the counter in Australia.

And where is the proof any way that CDKeys.com sell dodgy and risky keys?. I don't think so.

            • @hollykryten: As I said, Reddit and GG deal with this extensively. Read those things if you have not already.
My personal experience is from a friend who did not know better, bought a key, it said the key was not for his region (despite being advertised as ROW) and when he contacted Steam they confirmed that key was from the Baltic states.

        • Where do you think the keys are from? They are from a low price region (maybe not Russia but maybe Lithuania, Estonia etc) which is exactly why Steam prohibits the use of VPNs to buy from low price regions.

          • @Lysander: Hey Mate. Microsoft isn't Steam. Steam has its own rules and is a completely different company. But it's moot any way as these Gears 5 keys are global. Global means can be activated and used any where in the world. VPN is not involved. There is no prohibition from buying and activating these keys any where. As i said or else the game publisher would have region activation locked it. Just think about it.

            • @hollykryten: Here is the list of risks/issues with these resellers from GG. There is more info available there and on Reddit.

              Risks

Majority of keys in the store do not come directly from the publisher.

              - Selling Steam gifts (5 stores)
Trading Steam gifts is against T&C of Steam. Purchasing them from keyshops might put your Steam account at risk. Read more
Plus if you look where some of these are located and the sparse info on them (impressum, director etc.) often these stores are used to launder criminal proceeds and fund crime (see Reddit).

              • @Lysander: A game store suggesting people not to buy from other game key stores. What a surprise!. They want you to buy from them at a higher price.

                • @hollykryten: No, because it is from their price comparison site where they list all stores and their prices. Reddit has the same thing and they are not a game store.

Had been as low as $29 with the 5 games.

    • Not official reseller.

      • A lot of people don't really care. They don't want to be ripped off. None of the reseller cartel price jack ups.

        • Now, that is something I can accept (even though I do not condone it). But I don't accept that people say "Oh, it's all fine and legitimate."
I accept that people buy things from the man at the pub because they don't care but don't say it is the same as buying from an official, proper store.

      • I've just seen your posts above. Has anyone on Ozbargain ever complained of a key been revoked from cdkeys? I've bought multiple times, never had any issues.

        • I personally have never heard or read any posts on Ozbargain or else where from a game key purchased through CDKeys.com being revoked.

        • Plenty on reddit.
It is similar with G2A. A lot of people buy keys from there and it is fine but many people also got ripped of and they recently had to admit they sold stolen Factorio keys and had to pay the publisher $39,600 compensation.
It is great for the person getting a cheap key but not so good for the people who make the product. If you want devs to continue making games you like and play, support them by buying from authorised stores and not grey market key resellers.

          • @Lysander: Are you sure that was actually stories about CDKeys.com or some other online CD Key store which was dodgy?. Maybe you were mistaken.

By the way. Even if you buy from say Gamersgate, or CDKeys.com, the game maker is still getting money since it was a purchased copy. It is not stolen. They just want to have an excuse to jack up the price just because of global regions. So we are still supporting the game maker by actually buying the product and torrenting some dodgy pirated copy.

            • @hollykryten: Re sourcing. This is from their website:

"We buy from all corners of the globe to ensure the cheapest possible prices and as we only sell products in a digital format we're able to make significant savings on postage and related expenses - we then pass these reductions on to you, which ensures our pricing is the most competitive around!"

Clearly, they exploit regional pricing. And you have been around long enough that this is prohibited in virtually every gaming store/gaming platform. So, prima facie, you breach those T&Cs and the affected store has the right to revoke the game/ban you.
You can of course take them to court (and you have a good chance of winning, especially if you are in the EU) but the costs are prohibitive so no one does.
I work in this area of law and have seen plenty of T&Cs during my work, including those from gaming stores.

There is no impressum, no info re director, address etc.
Do you think a legitimate store should have that?

            • @hollykryten: I meant above, not torrenting some dodgy pirated copy.

              • @hollykryten: If you want a cheap key it is better to find someone here who does not want theirs.

            • @hollykryten: But sometimes the cards used, Paypal accounts etc. are stolen and then used to buy those keys. Then the devs get nothing but only have costs as the reversals cost money.
This can happen directly or indirectly.
Indirectly if CDkeys buys keys from people who have a bunch of them - they could have used stolen payment methods to acquire them. CDkeys buys them and onsells them.
              Can you see the issue?
Plus, why not support the devs?
So many people bitch about the quality of games etc. and at the same time they try to cut corners when buying the games.
How can devs make a really high quality game (and why should they) if there is no return on investment (money and labour) and their game is devalued?
Would you want this done to your work?

              • @Lysander: Some thing makes me think that CDKeys.com itself doesn't deal with third party key purchasing sources people. Some thing makes me think they they directly source and directly buy the game keys from regional markets itself from legitimate stores. And there's no way that CDKeys.com deals in stolen card purchasing that would be the end of their business. It's not some unknown popup marketplace key seller say through G2A or elsewhere which may be dodgy. There are absolutely no marketplace sellers on CDKeys.com, it is all sold by them itself. That's all i have to say about this.

                • @hollykryten: And that's fine. Everyone can decide if they want to buy from there or not.
However, for comparison reason it is not a fair comparison.
A comparison should be legitimate store v legitimate store and grey market v grey-market.
Otherwise we both know the cheapest price is free (but illegal) and we would never have to post deals again.
                  Thanks for the civil discussion.
I wish you a lovely evening.
