    Not German cuisine, and certainly not authentic. As a German, I'm downvoting it on that. See Amazon review by another German below:

    "This is the weirdest German cookbook I have seen. Being German and having two cooks as parents, I am not impressed. A number of the German titles in parenthesis make you want go, "um, what"?

    For example, Zweibelkuchen? It is Zwiebelkuchen. And where is the yeast in the dough? And poppy seeds, really? It is caraway seeds, not poppy seeds. They help prevent gas.
    Knoephia Dumpling - does he mean Knoepfla dumpling? Get your spellings right, dude!
    Mushroom soup - this recipe is basically hot water with some mushrooms, a few sprinkles of parsley and salt. Bon appetit!
    Deutsche Knoedelsuppe? It's not Knoedelsuppe - it's Griesnockerlsuppe!

    I could go on, but what's the point. Don't waste your money. You can get authentic recipes from a lot of websites. If it has to be a an actual book, try Grandma's German Cookbook by Linn Schmidt and Birgit Hamm, The German Cookbook: A Complete Guide to Mastering Authentic German CookingMay 5, 2010 by Mimi Sheraton or anything els, but this one. This one actually gets two stars, since the author did get a few recipes right."

      Yes because German cuisine is set in stone. Pre war German recipes are the same as post East/West German recipes. It never changes.

      Based on the number of restaurants, Das Nürnburger must be top German cuisine.

        Döner Kebab is proof that it's changing,
        however this guy's recipes are just terrible.
        Plus he has books on most countries' food.
        I think it's basically what an American thinks German food is.

          • @drewmoney: Have a look at the mushroom soup for example. Anyone that has ever had food will know that it won't be great!

Steven's very convincing profile photo… shaved head, 70's porn star/Village People moustache, body half-turned looking down the camera lens and completely accessorised with smoker's pipe, ashtray and typewriter… if he's not a professional cookbook writer, then he's Barbie Doll's bachelor uncle.

    German + Baltic cuisine is horrible. Of course the book would have to be free!

      Just like Americans saying "America is the greatest country in the world", yet 40% of them have never visited a single other country to compare…

      German food is definitely way better than Australian food (not that that's difficult).

          Love Vegemite to cook with (actually "MightyMite" is even better), but it's dreadful on bread!

        • I've had lots of German food and lots of Australian food in my days.
          For example, when I first moved here, the bread was virtually inedible. Much of the bread out there still is, but it was good to see that in particular, Coles introduced European style bread and bread rolls. I still won't touch the "bread" or "bread rolls" that most Australians seem to like that are 99% air.
          It is an opinion, true, but unlike the other opinion that I posted, it's an INFORMED opinion.

          It might also be worth noting that Germans place a far higher importance on their food than Australians do (as a generalisation).
