  • Hi There, any chance on the jerky being halal? Thanks.

    • -1

Hello Modokun, Not as of yet but am in the process of looking at that.

      The Big Chief

      • +3

Please offer non halal options too if you choose to go down that path. There is no way I will purchase your goods if they stem from cruelty to animals as performed in "real" halal slaughter.

        • +4

lol really? I hope you don't shop and coles or woolworths then. BTW you have no idea what you are talking about do you?

        • +4

Agreed i wont touch the halal. The muslims here can contest all they want but fact is there are animal cruelty prevention laws that demand the animal is stunned to avoid feeling the pain. Halal has an exemption (permit to be cruel) for religion only so if you are not muslim it should not be sold to you and forced on you. I have seen animals killed both ways and halal is definately alot more cruel. I can guarantee the people attacking you are the ones that do not know. For more information go google temple grandin. she is autistic so she purely speaks logically not religously or emotionally. She has and continues to revolutionalize the farming industry. As for the deal its ok but the other deal posted earlier this week was $59 kg for jerky and they sent samples as promised so ill try them out - better deal imo

        • @kwaker, What about Kosher genius?! Is it okay with you?!

      • -4

He/She certainly does not, go and do your research about Halal (and Kosher which is almost the same slaughter fashion) before you write such comment thinking it will make you appear smart or know it all! What you have seen in the media few months ago is not the way it is done. 20% of the World's population slaughters their animals this way. And if it is considered cruel to animals, the Australian authorities will not allow it to take place in Australia to begin with!

PS. Did you ask yourself how chicken are slaughtered in Australia and in the rest of the none-Islamic world? Do you think every chicken is stunned (unconscious) prior to slaughter? What does make this acceptable for chickens and poultry and unacceptable and cruel for sheep and cattle?! If you consider this is cruel then stop consuming meat all together!

      • +3

+1. I actively boycott any meat which is halal. It has nothing to do with "racism" and everything to do with sub-human compassionless slaughter practices.

I was going to commend you on clearly making a solid effort to mend the bad will of the now legendary jerky deal a few months ago, but going halal is definitely not the way to go about it.

      • +2

Thanks for answering the question. look forward to it :)

Thanks also to everyone else who has no idea how the slaughter process works for almost all animals in this country but felt like spouting their views about a question that was never asked. I love the idea that an autistic person giving an opinion is right based on the fact they are autistic. keep up the high standards ozbargain.

        • The suggeston isn't that being autistic makes her 'right'. It's that she is largely incapable of emotional reactions to external stimulus. Combined with being a renowned scholar and author with an extensive education and experince with the livestock industry, it means she's a far better source of a reliably unbiased appraisal of halal slaughter practices than your average ozBargainer, and especially more reliable and unbiased than any muslim. But I guess why should it surprise me that someone so ignorant (or careless) about the cruelty of halal also be ignorant about autism…

        • We are really wasting our time here; it's a problem when ignorance extends to stupidity! Educate yourself before you lecture people about Halal. Halal is not necessarily to kill the animal while it is still conscious. In fact this is very rare now especially with large animals such as cattle, and it is very hard to control the animal while it is still conscious. Halal nowadays is performed on stunned (unconscious) animals; exactly in the same fashion slaughter is performed everywhere in Australia. The difference and the important thing is that the unconscious animal is still alive and the person who cuts the unconscious animal's throat is Muslim and he/she should pronounce God's name during the process, that is Halal people, not the superstitions you see and hear from ignorant people which we have many of them here in ozbargain.

And again do some research about how chicken and poultry are slaughtered everywhere… double standards and fake morality.

        • sigh new ozbargain rule, no politics or religion :P

  • Most people have been good to Geronimo Jerky on Ozbargain-

I would like to bring to other company s attention that sockpuppeting is not permitted on Ozbargain site and that it will be reported and has been reported.

    :-) that is all…..

    The Big Chief

Are you talking about the 10% off by the other jerky company? Hardley sockpuppeting..especially when they are cheaper than you lol

      • +2

        No Massari,

I am talking about people that create an account one day and go straight onto other companies page the following day and bag Geronimo Jerky. They have been removed anyway so it doesn't matter.

        • Ohh ok haha :D I didnt see anything so I guess all good :)

        • I am curious as to this sockpuppeting…where is that

        • Doey21,

It is on another post but admin blocked it.

17:35 Comment unpublished. (Sockpuppeting - Artificial Commenting)

          All good now I hope.

          Regards,

    • Hmmm…wonder who negged this one

  • +2

Not as good as your last deal (half price). :\

    • +1

Hello Massari, never the less it is 30% off and a manageable deal. We have received orders and sent out either the same day if not the following last week.

The 50% deal was a killer for us but wanted to give ozbargainers great deal for supporting us but it blew out to something very big.

      Regards,

      The Big Chief

  • Can someone tell me the postage please - to the goldcoast

    • PVA it is all through the Australian Post calculator so it takes wieght and area in to consideration.

Coming from brisbane it would probably be around $5-7 dollars.

  • Is your jerky gluten free?

    • Yes all flavours are gluten free and we will be attending the Gluten free expo in Brisbane Tilduke.

  • can you offer free/discount ship to make up for the lack of 50% off :D

    • -1

      LOL..no

We have posted over 25 deals on Ozbargain with most of them being exclusive to Ozbargain members.

This deal has been extended because I have received a large number of emails of people that have missed the two day sale last week.

I have had resistance from some to put extend sale but I thought it was only fair to you.

      Kind Regards,

      The Big Chief

I ordered last time when there was the big 50% off sale. I have to say I was disappointed with the customer service, I approx 6 weeks to receive my order, and 3 emails were just plainly ignored for weeks before finally receiving a response.

The product was good, so I will order again this time to see if the kinks are ironed out.

    • +2

      Thank you Spacenoodle,

Was pretty poor after two years of great service to Ozbargain members for us to fail so terribly by the sheer unexpected sales.

Your order will leave tomorrow with extra in it.

      Kind regards,

      The Big Chief

I get all my jerky from Costco now….$8.99 per 255g and tastes great :)

    • Hello MrMaxwell,

That is an amazing price but I just cant work out what animal they might be using.

Proper jerky reduces down by at least 60 % but for us 3 kilos of beef down to 1 kilo of Jerky.

we pay just under $30 for the beef per kilo of jerky plus the 17 hours that it is cooked. This along with staff and ingredients it works out to be a pricey product.

Next time you buy some could you look at the ingredients? it might put you off from buying it again.

  • Hye big cheif just placed an order :D

is it strictly ozbargainers for the additional samples etc? or for anyone who buys 3 sample packs?

    • I havent stated that to anyone else but If someone wants extra with this deal that is fine :-)

  • I got the 3 sample packs too. Cant wait to taste them! Hope it got some extras as stated.

    • i got mine today and they are excellent. But beware of Flamin Arrow. This thing really is very very very hot (for me and my office mates).

  • Great jerky, got 3 x 200g and love them all. Blazing saddle is quite spicy!!
Unfortunately there were no extra samples as advertised though :(

    • Hey Buddy,

We missed out on a couple samples as I just added that as an afterthought to the deal and think your order went out before I told the girls.

Send an email to [email protected] and as someone else missed otu to and we are resending samples :-)
