I have an Asus Zenbook laptop (UX430uq) and have just bought a Dell U3419W 34 inch monitor thinking I'll be about to have multiple screens open at the save time to do my work and study. I've connected when a Hdmi (full size to mini) but have been very disappointed as I cannot get the Dell to display its native resolution (3440 x 1440), only the resolution of the laptop (1920 x 1080p) which leaves the picture blurry and large. I've tried changing the dislay settings on the laptop but no luck as it's maximum resolution is 1920x1080.
Can someone please help with suggestions? I don't really want to buy a new computer at this stage!
Cheers
If I had to guess (and I do, because Asus's website is shit and lacks any details) then I'd guess that your laptop can't do 4K over HDMI. It needs HDMI 2.0 or higher
EDIT: it says it supports display out via USB-C so that might work, but again, their website doesn't say anything about what resolutions are supported
