    Then why post?

because he's not sure and needs feedback from the community ie. me

$1 is always worth considering, it can be used for so many things

      • shopping trolley token (don't forget to get it back afterwards)
      • behind the ear magic tricks
      • gold coin donations to a worthy social justice cause (i hear black lives matter is all the rage right now)
      • strip club donation (put it in the front of the panties, it'll just slip out of the g-string on the sides and back otherwise)
      • corona virus transmission vessel
      • throw at someone's head
      • I think a combination of those would be excellent value.
Magic trick in to strip club donation/social justice (one and the same?) causing corona transmission. If it slips out of the G, piff it at someone's head.

  • This kind of slow cooker seems consum a lot of energy as it is not capable to retain the heat inside.

    • Yes. The design of crock pots means there is an air gap of ~ 10 mms between the heating element band and the inner ceramic cooking pot. There is also the same air gap between the heating band and the outer casing, meaning that half the heat produced is sent outside the crock pot. My Kmart one at least has no insulation, save an air gap, inside it. Also, usually the lid is not a snug fit and rocks a little, resulting in further heat loss.

They are simple set and forget devices, useful for breaking down tough meat cuts and long slow cooks, but do waste plenty of energy.

I've found I'm using my pressure cooker more nowadays. I did a 1/2 lamb leg the other day in 50 minutes, rested in the cooker for another 20. It was comparable to a 4-5 hour cook in the slow cooker.

Good luck finding any stock. Kmart's appliances section has been a lucky dip over the last week or two. Popular products are completely cleared out with no hope of restock for 6 weeks!

    • For those near Keysborough (parkmore) in Vic there was at least 30 at 2pm today. But agree with the above it's like lotto as to what's in stock.

  • Whats the difference between the two $19 slow cookers in the website. Look similar

slightly more expensive but if KMart doesn't have stock this would be the same item. we have one and its dam good. Pretty sure it came with a 3 year warranty too

I've noticed that most of these 5L sized slow cookers look to all use the same inner pot, slightly different externals

The sunbeam, russel hobbs and the $100 breville one seem to use an identical pot. anybody feel like going around and taking the inners out of a display and checking if they fit in all the other brands outer?

Wouldn't you be able to go to The Good Guys and swap out the pots from the ones on display?

By the way, I know for a fact that Russell Hobbs seem to use the same supplier as Kmart. I saw an air fryer of theirs at Harris Scarfe going for $120 when Kmart was selling the same one for $69!
