Breville BCG800/BCG820 Gear Failure. Anyone else?

With eggs on the boil and veggies in the air fryer, my BCG820 decided to die.
It has seemingly failed in the exact same way my BCG800 did; one of the plastic gears the main motor assembly has been worn down so if it hits a certain section it doesn't spin, and just makes a high pitched motor spinning sound.

BCG800 had the infamous impeller issue (my gear died before I got that). But with the popularity of these grinders esp on OzB I'm wondering if anyone has had it?

I'm only a 1 coffee a day person too! There are times I grind up a small bags worth for friends, but after what happened to my 800 I know to let it cool down between bursts (heat softening the plastic gears).

Luckily I had somewhat repaired my 800 so got it out quicksmart, but feeling pretty annoyed atm. Doesn't sound like a widespread issue even with heavier users.

    Vege + Eggs - Coffee = Covfefe?

I've got a dead one and a replacement, how long they last depends on how fine you grind and how hard the beans are. It's a bit crap that the grinder depends on plastic gears, looks like planned obsolescence to me. I have seen discussions of people 3d printing replacement gears but I have not really looked in to it.

That's what I eventually put into fix my BCG800. I say "somewhat repaired" in the original post because it doesn't quite grind the same. Not really tracking where all the washers and stuff go doesn't help lol. But this morning's coffee worked well enough; lucky I'm not a coffee snob lol.

Whether it holds up is the question, since it's just plastic again. Don't remember what material I chose for the printing. (Community-site printed)
