Been watching a lot of masterchef and have noticed the pressure cooker being used every episode. This isn't the instapot that they use on the show (that one is also on sale for $131 on Amazon currently) but looks to have decent reviews. Versatility includes pressure cooking, slow cooking as well as a "sous-vide" option.

Get one with a stainless pot. theres several cheapO brands around with it.

    • Sorry im new to the pressure cooker. I bought the Russell Hobbs one from OzB last weekend. Whats the deal with a stainless pot? Whats wrong with the included black one?

      • Itll be scratched up in not time.

      • I had a Breville Fast Slow Pro, and now have an Instant Pot. The main issue I had with the non stainless steel pot was I couldn’t get the cooking smell out of the pot, whereas the stainless steel one doesn’t seem to be as bad.

  • How does this compare to the Crock Pot which is also on sale at the moment around the same price?

    • Good guys have a croc pot for $99 which I just purchased yesterday

        Yes but which is better?

I have been using that one daily. Bought Nov 2018 on special, about same price.
Exchanged the inner pot with stainless steel for cooking in it. Leave black coated pot in for sous vide, canning etc.
Also have a Philips and pots fit either 6 liter models. Bought stainless steel pots via Philips site direct. Was cheaper.
Easy to use. Use it several times a day.

Edit: try pasta! Set manual 4 -5 min. Pasta added and water just enough to cover pasta or a bit less (Al dente)
After 15-20 minutes have perfect pasta, no water to strain. Older kids can do it. No hot water left.
Add sauce and keeps warm inside pot for quite a while since pot is insulated.
Really quick meal without pots and pans, dealing with straining hot water.

    • You are cooking the pasta for 15-20 mins?
      Or 4-5 mins?

      • It takes a few minutes to get pressure up, that's when the 4 minutes start counting down.
Depending on how full the pot is, the time to pressure will vary.

Good part is you can just put stuff in, set time and wait for beep at the end.
        Nothing to watch or stir.

        Quick meal after long day.

        • Thanks! Will pass on the link to explain to others.
I use thicker pasta, like home made, so cook it separately, then add sauces etc.

    • Is this the stainless steel pot that you use https://www.amazon.com.au/Philips-Collection-Anti-Scratch-St…

Yes, that's the bowl. Bought them at Philips site. Was cheaper then.
Good, solid stainless steel. Worth it.
