[Switch] 4 Free Games in 51 Worldwide Games ‘Pocket Edition’ @ Nintendo eShop

1200

Available from midnight.

From Vooks -

Nintendo has announced 51 Worldwide Games Pocket Edition which will also release tomorrow alongside the full version of 51 Worldwide Games.

Pocket Edition is a smaller cut down version of the full 51 Worldwide Games software and is more then just a client for the main game that allows multiplayer. (referred to Download Play in the past)

Pocket Edition has four games included

  • Dominoes,
  • Four-in-a-Row (Connect Four),
  • President
  • Slot Cars.

You can play these solo, or you can play with local multiplayer and other Switch consoles.

The Pocket Edition can also be used to link to the main version of the game so you can play things like Hanafuda or Mahjong and have your cards and tiles hidden. You can even use Pocket Edition to play games in the Mosiac Mode which allows games to run over multiple screens on multiple Switch consoles.

More of a demo than a bargain

    • +1

Not really a demo as you get 4 games for free that ya can play whenever, it's just the other 47 games are only in the full version.

      • +3

That's exactly what a demo is.

That's like saying "not really a demo as you get the first 4 levels for free that ya can play whenever".

        Plus this is always free.

  • Looks like a demo? Full game is $59.95

Neg is because this is more akin to a demo imho

    • +3

Looks like it is also used to play locally with someone who has a full copy. Wish download play was more common on the switch

Ahh, I remember the days of playing Mario Kart DS with three others, and the best part - only one of us needed the full game to play together!

        • I was disappointed to find that Switch didn’t have a download play app like the DS and 3DS.

        • +1

Luigi's Mansion 2 on 3DS is one of the best for download play because even after you stop playing with the person with the game you can continue to play the game online with anyone else.

        • Mario Kart, the mini games in Mario 64, Call of Duty, download play was aces in high school.

PSP actually had pretty much the same feature too, though it was so barely used I forgot what it was called. You could broadcast a demo to a friend's unit of some games or even play together with one copy. I remember specifically the demo of a game called Bounty Hounds having something you could send to a bud. I think WipEout Pure let you send a demo (Burnout too), but for the most part no one even knew it was there.

This gen there's been some games like Wolfenstein Youngblood that have a client you get to download and play with a buddy, but most of them basically give you a code to download it, it's not like it's a "free app" for everyone who can then hook up with someone who has the game, that would be sick.

It's one thing to kill my beloved split screen, that hurts. But now to play with a buddy they want me to pay for online "access", they want us both to buy a copy of the game, (profanity) y'all, this is why I account share all three consoles. I don't get a cent for it, I've never asked my buds for anything, just the other day I hooked a dude up to my Xbox account so he can have my Game Pass Ultimate, the satisfaction of getting more value is worth it.

  • The Pocket Edition is always free.

Also, for those who have played Persona 5 Royal, President is very similar to Tycoon.

Switch is really not my thing… not played for more than 8 months now. Only my wife is playing Just Dance.

    • +1

Me neither. I won one and haven't purchased a single game!

There's a lot of overpriced crap in the catalogue.

      • +1

The catalogue is huge but I will give you a few of my personal recommendations (not that you asked lol).

Luigi's Mansion 3 - Really fun adventure game with a lot of puzzle elements. Starts a little slow but the level design and creativity in this game is brilliant.

Limbo - Haven't played on Switch but one of my favourite games ever.

        Inside - Same as above.

Metal Slug series - Arcade port so the visuals aren't perfect but a classic series that I think is pretty cheap on the Switch.

Cuphead - Absolutely brutal platformer in terms of difficulty but an incredibly well made game and so rewarding to finish. I would pay full price for this game because I appreciate the thought and effort that when into making this game.

Snipperclips - Really fun to play with a partner or in a group.

Bomberman - Have played this game only in a group of 4 but its so much fun in that setting. Pretty easy to pick up and learn as well.

I can't seem to find the pocket edition, when i clicked the link all i see is the full game and a demo. Does demo = pocket edition?

    • +1

I second this, can anyone advise how to download it?

    • I havent been able to find anything that specifically mentions "pocket edition" for this game on Nintendo AU eShop. It could just be the 'free demo' in my link above. Give that a try and see if it lets you play the 4 games from OP's description

      • +1

The demo is the pocked edition - confirmed on HUKD.

        • +1

it would be great if the 'go to deal' can be linked to the actual game for download

  • Can you play over Android too coop multiplayer

  • can you claim via pc/mac?
