I have used these bulbs exclusively throughout my house. They are easy to set up and are quick to respond. Using through Alexa. Very well made and sturdy. A steal at $20 each
They are also the same price at JB Hi-Fi (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lifx-mini-white-a19-e27-l…). I went and got some yesterday and was only charged $16.69 each at the register, which was a nice bonus!

can these be used in a down light?
yes, if it has a B22 (Bayonet Cap) fitting. There are also Edison Screw versions. No, if you are talking about 12V downlights.
It is just like a regular globe in terms of the light is emitted all around the globe.
You may be better with a reflector style globe if you wanted the light all reflected down.
