Affordable computer monitor for a laptop < $150 Please Help :)

Good morning you great people :)

I am a computer newbie who just tried Valorant for the first time but my 15 inch laptop monitor seems way too small :( I think I may benefit from 24 inch monitor screen.

I am playing valorant on lowest settings at the moment.
Is there any affordable computer monitors out there <$150 to run my game smoothly. Cheaper the better for me since I'm low on budget during this Corona crist :(
Second hand monitors shoud not matter as long as it works and has good enough resolution to play this game.

I have two main questions as well. they are:

1.Should I only look at two thing which are refreshing rate and resolution (1920x1080)?

2.Will my laptop even able to handle 100Hz ? If not, should I just get any computer monitor that has 60hz refreshig rate?

Here is my laptop spec

CPU
Intel Core i5 @ 1.60GHz 38 °C
Kaby Lake-U/Y 14nm Technology
RAM
8.00GB
Motherboard
LENOVO 20KSCTO1WW (U3E1)
Graphics
Wide viewing angle & High density FlexView Display 1920x1080 (1920x1080@60Hz)
Intel UHD Graphics 620 (Lenovo)
Storage
238GB LENSE20256GMSP34MEAT2TA (Unknown (SSD))
Optical Drives
No optical disk drives detected
Audio
Conexant SmartAudio HD

Thanks so much for putting your precious time to read my post.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Have an awesome day :)

I'm surprised you play at all with just integrated intel graphics. I'm guessing you're not even hitting 60Hz so I would stick to FHD 60Hz display.

    • Thanks so much for your advice. Haha well I've only played LOL before trying Valorant :P I've been perfectly fine playing LOL but my eyes are starting to really hurt with Valorant so Im hoping larger screen will help me eyes a little :)

    • valorant recommended hardware (not even minimum requirement) is gt730

so yeah, uhd620 is not far off gt730

  • gumtree would probably be your best bet for that money

    • Thanks for your comment :) I did look into it but I couldn't find the decent one :(

  • NEW computer monitors in the $150 price range will typically just be very run of the mill 60hz TN monitors, and will not be much different than monitors made in the past 5 years

Basically if you're looking at very cheap LCD's the specifications will be the same across the board: 60hz, mostly TN panel, 1080p hd, regardless of which model or brand you buy.

There may be a few models that advertise 1ms response time and may have 75hz refresh rate (overclocked) but without discrete GPU you are basically under-utilising the faster refresh rate.

    • TN monitor it is :)
      thank you so much!

  • Maybe try looking at this

    • thanks for your advice :) appreciate it

  • You can walk into officeworks and get a 24" for $190
So, either do that or scout gumtree for something cheaper. That size has been around for ages, so you should be able to get an old one for decently cheap if someone is upgrading. I'd aim for $100 used.

For reference, I am using a 1080p 24" dell monitor from 2008 I think. Cost me $250 back then, and still feels pretty good.

    • Thank you so much sir :)
